how old were you at your first gig?

First gig: 17 (high school dance)

Even remember first song of first gig: Bryan Ferry's "Let's Stick Together"

Had a trumpet and trombone playing from the local conservatorium HS -- we were a classy act!

Strange personal fact: It was the first and last time I played bass professionally. I'm actually a guitarist, and for whatever reason, I've never had to play bass on a gig since. I can't even recall if we had a guitarist in that line-up -- but it was decided I had to play bass, as we were short a bassist.

Just as well it was three chord song where all I had to do was sit on the root. I think my bass technique just about covered it! :)
