first day of highschool was informed that I would be going on "tour" in three weeks, and I had no spare underwear with me that day.
First paid gig on bass 13, in a pub, the landlord said you are 16 yeh? we all just nodded. We got 25 pounds, and free cokes, Two cougers tried to pick me up when we we were loading, while my dad was carrying the other side of my cab acctualy, not embarising at all, no.

Not including guitar and piano recitals and fiddle competitions, I was about 9. My dad and brother and I performed every Sunday morning for an early-morning horse show at a horse ranch outside of town. We loaded my dad's old PA and the instruments into the station wagon, drove 45 minutes, setup, did the show, loaded back up, and went to church - where my dad lead worship - by 9am. That was about 1987/88.

First gig would have been 11 in middle school orchestra on the double bass. I don't really consider recitals "gigs" though. My first gig in a garage band on the electric bass was at 15. Looking back I'm all smiles about it. Truly a great highschool experience.

I remember before we all got our license, we got together and decided who's parents were the least embarassing to drive us to our gig. Hahaha, good times.

I got my first paying bass gig was when I was 15, I went to a big southern presbyterian church and they wanted a bass player. 2 bucks every sunday and free barbecue. Best gig ever.

My first gig was on clarinet, I led a Dixieland band with some locals when I was 14. I miss clarinet sometimes...

I was 16 the first time I played at a club. My older sister was dating the keyboard player from a local band, and he got me in the 3.2 club (even though I was 2 years under-age), and brought me up on stage to play Alice Cooper's "Go to Hell". I had older, very good-looking girls hitting on me afterwards. That was a memorable night...

I played recorder for like 50 people in a church when I was 8! The question is whether this is considered an actual gig..
I did some piano shows when I was about 13 and I started doing gigs with me on bass when I was 16, I guess.

I had a sorta gig in a bowling alley where the band knew parts of songs : Sucked wasn't the word..it was worse.

IMO my first real gig was when I was 40..proud of that

16. Played guitar in my hardcore band and played a sick basement show. I hated my riffs but the crowd seemed to dig it. But they were also messed up on lots of drugs so, idk.
