How old were you when you had your first gig :D

I was 16 when I played my first gig with an independant band (no teachers involved) and I filled in for another bass player and had one rehearsal before the gig. So, actually I played in two independant bands that night, each played 2 sets and in the end there was a jam session. It was also the first time I ever played the bass live. I'd been playing the bass for like 1,5 years at that time. I hsf played in some music school projects on piano before, but never more than 2 songs a in one evening.

Pretty spectacular career start when I think about it now :D

I played was my brand new Cort Action VA-5 (which still is my main bass for jazz at the moment) through the school's old Laney (which is more of a keyboard amp I think...)

Awesome memories coming up right now.
Like when we played When I Fall In Love in a very slow and long versions. The others played so awesome I always lost track of my sheet. :D
These 8 minutes I consider as the best moment in my life. I get goosebumps from even thinking about it!

First real gig? 15 y.o.
It was in front of all my class mates at a party.
Another band opened, and they were good.
I panicked and hid on the side of the house hoping it would all just go away.
Much to my dismay, they started announcing my name over the P.A. and requesting I
present myself. Now the spotlight was fully on me. Oh great!
Anyway, we played, they danced, girls talked to me...I was hooked.

I think I was 13. We played for a Boy Scout thing. 3 tunes. Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Takin' Care of Business and one more. Used my cousins PA. He had a working band that played all our school dances and stuff. Remember those days...real bands at school dances.

I was 13. played drums with my grandpa's dance band playing standards from the 1940's at a Senior Citizen's Center. The whole crowd was average age 75 and they thought it was great to see the sax player's little grandson playing old songs. I made $21 in tips.

First gig on bass was playing bluegrass with my dad's group at age 17, the day after I had played my first show as a drummer of a local grunge / punk band. I've tried to be musically diverse ever since. :smug:

I started really gigging when I was 17. Playing in adult bars/clubs. My parents were so cool about this and gave me permission to be around all sorts of grown up activities. I'm old (56) now and still like playing those adult clubs :-)

I played my first gig this last February the day before my 35th birthday. I had messed around and noodled for years and finally bought myself a decent bass for Christmas 2010 on Amazon. This was about a week before Christmas. I got an email saying my bass had shipped and then a short while later I got a phone call from my friends mother. We were best buddies growing up. I hadn't seen him in 12 years and she told me he had passed away.

I took it as a sign I guess. I don't really believe in such things but I decided it was time. I started finding people to play with and then about a year later I found a great band. I was pretty nervous but I loved it. I played 7 gigs with them and loved every moment of it.

I'm currently bandless and I feel like a boat with no sail or like a man lost in a great desert. OK maybe not that bad :) but I miss jamming with a whole band and gigging.

I don't know why I waited so long but I sure don't regret getting up there.

16. I was in a band called Vladimir and the Cosmonauts. Our drummer bailed on us 3 days before the gig, so I actually subbed on drums for my very first show since it was a lot easier to teach a guitar-playing friend simple bass parts than to try to find a quality drummer in 3 days.

I had been playing for 6 months.

It was our bands first show ever.

We were playing at a CBC radio 3 award winning venue of the year.

The show was sold out.

The headliner was a signed band on a cross Canada CD release tour and they were 2 provinces away their home...

My first gig was some what of a weird story. I was nervous as F, I don't remember much of being on stage, but i remember that entire day/night like it was last week (it was really like 3 years ago).
