How to make a T-40 lighter!

That is terrible. I feel sick for having seen it. Like seeing a real picture of a disfigured corpse.

Hard to believe someone would do this. I thought this was going to be one of those 'remove pickguard and route out excess wood' threads.

I believe there was even a thread from long ago where someone sliced off the top and then routed cavities in the body then glued the top back on with a thin veneer of walnut or mahogany sandwiched in between. Very nice and cut the weight by almost half, but yeah, bigtime neck dive. Lightweight tuners are almost a necessity at that point.

Im all for someone making a bass there own but 150$ shipped is tops id pay for its parts and the lay that body to rest

Gross! I've wondered about the possibility of passing a T-40 body through a planer once or twice. I seem to recall it was mighty thick and that might be a simple and aesthetically pleasing mod if you already had a modded subject. Lightweight tuners sound like a good companion idea.

"it looks like the last owner customized the body. It was finished off really nice so it looks original" LMAO. At least he's not trying to sell it as a custom shop peice by mfg for some special unammed customer. A more descrete body modding to make it more look like dinky body version would have been ok, but this is a bit much imo.
