How to stop Tinnitus

Yeah.
22 years ago I had a broken wisdom tooth surgically removed.
An hour or so after it was done,my left ear stars clicking and popping.
Then some fluid drained out.
Then the ear canal started to constrict and a ringing started.
I was given antibiotics.I took them as prescribed.

The clicking, popping and drainage has long since stopped.
But the ringing has been on going ever since.

Some tinnitus is due to a inner ear circulatory or nerve condition bought on by hyper extending my jaw.
My dentist told me I had very long tooth roots.
Mine started at 16 when I made a dive below 60 feet while testing for an open water qualification. When I returned to the surface it sounded like I had long tubes held up to my ears. This lasted a few days and when it subsided I had a high pitched squeal in both ears that has never gone away. I'm sure it's been aggravated by frequent discharge of large caliber firearms, loud exhaust systems, ear bleeding music volume, and the din associated with industrial fabrication/machining/processing equipment, most with no hearing protection.

He says the cause of tinnitus is somewhere in the nerve going to the auditory center of the brain which is why his Days and Days of 12 reps of 20 back skull thumping supposedly works. That is Not the cause of tinnitus. The cochlea of the inner ear has these hairs...and they get bent over and produce a nerve stimulus. Tinnitus isn't the cosmic sound either...

EXACTLY. I avoid all videos or click bait that claim to have a "simple trick," "30 seconds to cure X," or suggest that "they don't want you to know this."

What I find amazing is that we are 25 years into the Internet and people STILL fall for this horse manure.

I'm old enough, and have been on the internet long enough. to remember when it was basically full of students, scientists and technologists, and THEY believed a lot of this crap. Usenet had entire category trees devoted to this quick fix stuff.

I developed tinnitus taking an over-the-counter vitamin supplement; a health supplement called Primer from a company called Magnum...I didn't put two and two together until after about 4 weeks of suffering, especially at night when trying to sleep. No idea what in the supplement caused it for me and I am sure others might not have issues with it.

PS - I know 4 weeks is NOTHING compared to some people's suffering, but I wanted to share to bring awareness to the fact that tinnitus can come from unexpected sources. As soon as I quit the supplement, the tinnitus vanished.

Mushrooms are big mainstream research these days. For a number of conditions. All of the direct tinnitus evidence is anecdotal so far but there is plenty of evidence regarding both lion's mane mushrooms and psilocybin mushrooms as neurogenic substances. Johns Hopkins and Mass General are the big mushroom research centers right now. There is enough evidence of the primary benefits, and enough evidence of low risk that I have decided to explore microdosing for my neuropathy that came on during lupus treatment. I have a doctorate in a research methodological and applied statistics field.

It also turns out reputable mainstream medical research is looking at using psilocybin to treat autoimmune diseases and other systemic inflammation. Since my neuropathy is either a result of my lupus, or my lupus treatments, I feel extra hopeful.

I can say this, I took 0.5g of mushrooms and lost my tinnitus in 40 minutes, and it stayed away for a week. This is consistent with the anecdotal reports.

Some people report taking big doses and get long lasting results (while also having a 5+ hour psychedelic experience). Some people get results from microdosing.

The science is there for all kinds of benefits on this now that the dea is allowing real science again. We'll be seeing more and more studies as this is currently under active study and the research interest keeps growing despite the fact that I don't see how big drug companies are going to profit from it.
My GF has type 1 Diabetes and uses Magic mushrooms to help with Neuropathy , gonna try some for my Tinnitus tonight .

I found it interesting, on one tap the high end of the tinnitus in one ear did go away. (I was only noticing it in that one ear when I tried it).

I highly doubt it is a cure, but I don't think any harm can come from tapping my head a bit, so it seems worth trying.

One morning I woke up to find that I had tinnitus in both ears....identical volume in each ear. That was about ten years ago, and I've had it ever since. I'm listening to it right now. Sounds like a chorus of thousands of insects in a hayfield on a hot day. For me it's pretty loud sometimes, and forgettable most other times, but it's always there.
