How would you describe your playing style?

But seriously, I don't know how to describe it, but I was meant to play in a 3-piece band. I guess I listened to Mel Schacher, Jack Bruce. the Ox and the like more closely in my youth than I thought. I can get too busy, but tend to try to rein it in, still leave some space. But doing stuff to fill sonic holes is what I enjoy; sliding down to a note and hitting it exactly when the kick hits, doubling up an octave, a few selective placed power chords using the third or the fifth depending, light grace notes, stuff like that. Some times that means doing a parallel solo, though; most times not. And the other two guys like all that. That, always remember Bootsy's THE ONE, and again, being married to that kick drum. We've been called "extremely tight," I guess that's good then.

Although I can play with dynamics, I would say that no matter what, I am always on the dark/aggressive end. Even when playing softly, I there is an aggression to it. ...but, make no mistake, I play to the tune. My take would be on the more dark or aggressive end of what is acceptable. On some parts, I may play the simple root notes and simply following the changes. On others, I might play a million notes a minute. I might be playing something that has more of a "lead" vibe to it. I might walk it. I might take a more reggae vibe. Whatever gets the job done. Even if I try to play light and bubbly, it will be an aggressive and dark light and bubbly. lol. That's just how I feel music.

No where near as good as I want. I try to play what's appropriate for the song and have a bass line that sounds like it's going somewhere like a melody or if it's a riff to get it right, and to sit in the mix appropriately. Hopefully every year I get closer.
