Probably boring to most of you, but I'm very happy with the assortment. I say all Fender, but my Squier is officially a Squier. Although it outperforms many Fenders (and says Fender in tiny letters on the headstock)...

The least-identifiable one is the black American Standard Jazz I bought new in 2000.

Everyone except Flea has swapped pickups.

Lil off topic but for me it depends on the sound or role I'm going for.
Mid tone forward for punk/metal? Model P
Vintage smooth but with bite? Fralin
Explosive boom and scooped mids? Quarter Pounder
I also have a Tonerider and an unopened EMG GZR kit that I haven't tested.

I like the idea of the active EQ. I have an Audere Pro-Z in my Jazz5, but if I were to do it again I probably would go for the John East preamp, only because the JE can switch between active and passive whereas the Audere is active only. Alternately, I own a Fishman Platinum Pro EQ/DI box which can accomodate bass or guitar, has a compression, a built in tuner, a switch to optimize bass or guitar, DI out, effects loop and a ton of other features. For those who have passive basses but would like the advantages of active, this box is highly recommended (by me ). A little pricey at $320, but if you have multiple passive instruments you only have to buy it once.

I like the GZR I have one in a p bass.I built a Reverse T-Bird and installed 2 P-pups by Epic Custom Shop on the advice of a Guns and Guitars video.They're hand wound by a former Aeronautical engineer that will do custom work and his prices are very cheap.I like them very much.

Not all Fender, but I have a American Performer Mustang with Nordstrand Pickups, a Mod Shop P bass with Aguilar 60's P, and a Mod Shop J with Howard Ulyate J pickups. The P and the J also have Obsidian wiring harnesses and have roasted necks . All three are plek'd. I don't have money anymore for high dollar boutique stuff. But I've owned them all at one point or another, and I have to say with the upgrades I've made, these come very close to being the my favorite basses I've owned.

I'm in a similar sitch. All of my basses are either Fenders, Fender/Squier hybrid parts-basses or Fender necks on licensed bodies. (Mighty Mite, Warmoth, etc...) It's not for lack of trying other brands. There's just something about the feel and looks that feels like "home" to me. Plus, I love to tinker, so there is no shortage of gizmos, electronics and hardware ready-made to drop right into most FSO's.

That's a good point. I've had Gibsons, Hamer, Ibanez, Sadowsky, EBMM Stingray, Washburn, Yamaha, Zon, even a MarkBass bass (not many can say that!). Nothing felt right like a Fender in my hands or in my ears. And yep, I like to mod 'em too!

Been a Fender/Squier exclusive player since 2012, can't go back. I still have my first proper bass, an Ibanez midranger GiO 5 string, which I can't give up but barely play.

What do you think of the PLEK basses compared to a complete set up by a good guitar tech? Unless I'm missing something doesn't a PLEk cost about $200?

Idk about better. I'd call it more like another flavour of Leo. I have mostly Fenders now but I also have a Stingray that I have had before I had before any of them too and it's still my go to for gigs.

It's quality of build is better but is definitely also at the point of diminishing returns too. Imo, Fender QC is fine too. However, Squier 2018-present...could use some improvement compared to pre-2019.

I'm leaning that way too, with a HB standing in for early P (the red one) and the other HB (the blue one) that is not a Fender nor a clone of a Fender. On the far right is my go-to 75 Jazz with DiMarzio model J's.
