I didn't like black basses too till I've found a good offer on a G&L L2000 tribute with rosewood fingerboard which sounds great and plays comfortably! I guess I've changed my mind.

Black Fender basses go with everything. You could play them on any gig and look like they belong. They're the black dresses of the bass world.

For a P or J, black/maple is simply one of the sexiest colors around IMO. It just says "rock".

Have to admit I like black basses a lot more than, say, red ones. Just as a general rule.

I think certain colors sort of make a statement, while others are more neutral. Like, if you're playing a bright green or purple instrument, you want that color to be noticed. With black, it's like a blue suit or brown shoes...

I have a Squier J5 that I got for next to nothing at a pawn shop. Its black w a white PG. I hate it. I want to get a gold mirrored PG, gold hardware and a gold control plate (do they make those?) Saints bass Who dat!

The picture washes out how dark the bass is in real life - if you see it under stage lighting, you'd say....black.

If you liked the front, the back will...well, I'm not sure:

some of my basses have names. This one is...Holey. Which also works...because I play in churches.

My first Rickenbacker (Model 3000) was black, after that I went some 20-odd years without another black bass. Today I have a black Fender, a black Hartke, and a black Vaccaro, and am trying to resist the temptation to have my upcoming double-reverse-P-medium-scale-P-bass finished in black...

I like black basses. I have three, one of which is also a MIM Classic '70s Jazz. It came with a white PG but I swapped it for a black one (well, a 3-ply with white in the middle to match the white binding).
