I finally get the hype with TI strings

Yup, TIs are great. In my experience they sound radically different than other flats (at least the ones I tried), and so I basically consider them a separate type of strings.
i use their jazz rounds and prefer them. i can't say they are a "game-changer" --- but i like 'em enough to prefer them over a myriad of other choices. i have a set of TI jazz flats that i've never strung up...still in the package. i've never liked flats enough to prefer them over rounds. for me: it really isn't about last week's string choice as much as it is about the next note choice.
I popped some cobalt flats on my stingray. Took it to practice (punk/ska/hardcore) and was pretty blown away at how well they worked in that setting. Usually I use regular cobalts (ebmm sterling), Slinky's 45-100s (jazz) or super brites (p bass). I was shocked at how well they performed.
I paid $75 for a set of JF344's in May 2015 for the P-Bass you see in my avatar. Those strings are still on the bass to this day. That means those strings cost me $15 per year up to this point...and I have no plans to change them anytime soon. The price-per-year will only continue to drop.
I have four basses with TI flats. They're my favorite strings, by far. The price is reasonable to me because I never have to replace them. I had a set on a P bass for close to 20 years and they were going strong when I sold the bass last year. On the basses I still have my oldest set is probably 15.

I'm a believer. I've have TI's on my 2014 & 2018 Ric 4003's as well as on my Fender Starcaster.
I don't prefer them on all my basses but I'll never take 'em off my G&L L1505
Sometimes you can find deals. I got JF344 shipped for $47 last year. And JR345 for $45 just earlier this month.
I just checked Amazon and it would appear that the @ $50 deals on "accordian accessories" are gone....... sadly. I'm definitely a convert, having put them on 4 basses so far.
I've said it before; I'll say it again: TI Jazz Flats stopped my search for strings. Yes they are expensive. And in my experience they take a while to break in and lose some stickiness. But for my playing (fretless fingerstyle funk on an active PJ bass) they're a great fit. Welcome aboard!

I used TI flats for a while but somehow the old roundwounds I tried to replace them with always seemed to crawl back onto my basses over time. I have Fender 9050Ms on my jaco pastorius and there still seems to be no attempt by TIs to go on that bass either.
I couldn't quite pinpoint why, but they just didn't sound and play as well as regular old high tension roundwounds or flats. I don't know if it was the low tension or couldn't ever quite get a good setup or the rubber band washtub bass kind of sound or what it was exactly... I'm a believer now in the Fender strings and those seem to be permanently attached to my jaco....

My "Pino" has them as well. It's a perfect match. It's a Roscoe with a Honey Badger pickup. Killer bass. My drummers favorite. I like it a lot as well. It takes another Roscoe to replace my fretted 5 Roscoe as a favorite bass.
I could swear that that's my old bass. Or an exact replica. I Wish I would have kept that one.
I’ve got a set on my VM Fretless Jazz. They were on the bass for a year, followed by a one month hiatus when I tried my other favorite string (D’Addario Tapes) on it. Now the TIJFs are back on and I’m loving it. I think they’ve overtaken EB Cobalt Flats as my favorite flat.
Bought a bass with TI flats on it. Almost returned the bass, and then realized I could sell the strings for $50.
Just too little tension for me. Maybe I couldve got used to them and lightened my technique but GHS precision flats for me. The sound of chocolate

I love my TI Flats on my fretless and acoustic basses. They are a different animal with their own sound to all other flats. They really do sound good for what I want them to do. For a classic flats sound I use Chromes.
