I Just Don't Understand Fender!

I was talking to my local dealer from whom I bought my Squier Dimension V, inquiring about getting an American Deluxe V single H. The salesman called Fender, and told him that the only single H model still being made is the Squier. I will double check about the MIM single H Dimension, that bass did not have sound I liked in the American or Squier single H models. Maybe the single H just didn't sell at all, but I think the five string version, especially, was a real Stingray killer.

Fender doesn't understand Fender, either. Corporations are not intelligent, intelligible, or self-aware constructs. They are designed to make profit, not sense.

I certainly see no long term strategy in getting rid of the single H, especially the five because there is a sizable number of bassists who would play an SR5 style bass if wider string spacing were an option. This Dimension may not be a runaway smash, but, over time, I think it would make money.

IMO, the best Stingray killer is the ATK which costs way less. Maybe Fender realized this? Or maybe they thought they had a better shot competing only with the Stingray HH, which really isn't a proper Stingray really- it is its own animal (no pun intended).

ATKs are great basses, but I think the MIA Dimension is a bit closer to the real Stingray sound, and I just like Fender V necks.

No, it is not the same.
Good! I wasn't a fan of the USA necks. Honestly, they felt cheap. The asymmetrical thing was not well done and they felt raw and unfinished- not like a natural finish should feel.

Hope to try a Mexi one knowing they are not the same. I was honestly quite disappointed because I LOVE my Modern Player dimension and really wanted to like these...

But Fender is a particularly extreme example of a corporation suffering from cranial-rectal inversion. Poster-children for the syndrome, I think.

All this Fender bashing is stupid.

The product range is very impressive; all my Fenders (second hand and new since 2011 models) are nigh-on perfect. Strategy wise, it looks like Fender is on a much better track now than the last few years. The product range is now starting to make sense and the marketing, TBH, is pretty impressive.

My greatest (1st world) issue is buying something other than Fender.

I was playing my Am Std Jazz last night. I know the neck doesn't have the feel of Sadowsky (I once owned a Sadowsky), but jeez, for an all round bass at the price I paid, it is a cracker.

If I particularly wanted to, I could work on the feel of the neck - I often think about it though it really isn't worth the effort.
