I Just Don't Understand Fender!

Another point, it's more often people who think every thing that's not a fender is a pile of garbage then people hating fender products. I can tell you that the MIM line is probably the best deal in the bass guitar world right now, but other brands exist and make good products too. That's something that a lot of tb'ers need to understand.

I liked the dimension basses, until I tried one. It was so uncomfortable, I might get use to it with time but I couldn't get it in a position that felt right.

I never said anything to the effect of "I hate fender". I happen to love my p bass, it's an important peice of my life. Fenders are not perfect, is what I said, and with that, no bass is perfect. Even the $10,000 fodera basses are not perfect.

Please re-read my post. I wasn't directing it at you, nor the original point of the thread, only that it's turning into a hate thread. Fender isn't perfect, but neither are many other companies out there, and after a while the Fender bashing gets old, and it smacks of gear snobbery.

This is true, though I am not one of those people. Gear snobbery works both ways, I've seen it in full force in other threads, and don't care for it whether it's pro-Fender or not.

Ah ok my bad. Yes, this has descended into a bit of a hate thread. I don't get that, fender has argue the best line of discount instruments out there In the made In Mexico line. I've had mine for ten years and only had to set it up twice. It's rock solid. And yes gear snobbery is a two way street 100%. An amazing player can make a $200 squire sound amazing just the way a crappy player can make a $20,000 alembic sound horrible. Gear snobs are a pain. I saw a guy with a Brand new ric sound less than half as good as a way better player with a Chinese fender copy bass.

To each thier own, but I played a few Fender Dimension basses in a GC.. No way they come close to a Stingray in feel or quality.. I didnt bother to plug it in as I disliked it imediately so I can't comment about the sound.

It doesn't make any difference if you care or not, you cannot comment on the thing that matters most with an instrument because if the sound is great, a musician will find a way to get used to it. You probably would not think it sounds great, but you don't know.

It's actually quite hysterical how much emphasis is put on the actual instrument. A good player with a decent 4 string Fender can play anything needed to be played on most of the material out there as the tone really is in your hands.
Fenders precision bass have, and can get the job done as good anything else out there. It's often the inadequacies of many players that leads them to search for something else, blaming the instrument because they can't get the tone that they're hearing in their head not realizing that they need to put the work in order to actually produce that tone.
