I Like J Basses Better Than P Basses

I bought my first bass recently a P/J Bass - which I love - but I guess I should also eventually buy a Jazz bass - It's the only way to be sure

And a P, got to get one of those too.. But my #1 is a P/J

I thought my PJ would solve my dilemma as to whether I pick up the P bass or the J - How wrong was I - it just added a third dimension to the problem of selecting one over the other!!

I have bought and sold 2 nice fender jazz basses. I will play one then buy it, afterwards can’t quite dig the sound and odd shape, then sell it, then repeat ,,,,,anybody got a jazz they want to sell???

I'm a bad P/J/P-J player, then.

Well, they look cooler, the necks are generally a little quicker. And without looking, they sound the same. Unless you’re dimed on the bridge and playing right over the metal I have never met a bassist who can tell a P from a J on a commercial recording. I know I can’t.
So if they fit your hand better it’s a better bass for you. Well done.

And the Stingrays and Wals and Alembics account for a nearly third of the known P bass hits in the 70s-80s.
