I Like J Basses Better Than P Basses

I thought I did until I owned both a precision and jazz at the same time and realized I preferred the precision neck. I have pretty big hands and the jazz bass neck feels too thin at times.

I dime both

I dime all knobs on every bass, (and usually) leave the amp flat, and dial my tone in at the pedals

Doesn't Fender sell more jazz basses and has more Jazz models. Unless there is some hard data, I take that in present day the notion that the P-Bass is most recorded or go to in studio with a grain of salt. Cutting in the mix - a jazz can cut just fine if you know who to use EQ

I like J basses. I hate J bass sizes. I cannot currently afford a J bass with a smaller body. Therefore, I hate J basses

I’ve always struggled to get a tone I like out of Jazz Basses but I love their necks and overall ergonomics. So it’s been a struggle. But I just picked up a 2003 Highway One Jazz with an old set of flats on it. That thing’s tone is pure magic

I find with rounds I have to go active to get a tone I like. I have an American Pro Jazz that I put a set of EMGs in. With a set of Fodera nickels it’s one of my go-to basses when I’m looking for a more modern sound

I always get questions about this bass.

The serial matches up to a Capri Orange Player Series, but I received it directly in a Fender box, so I'm not sure if T-Mobile had Fender finish it or if they outsourced it to a different company. I haven't taken off the pickguard to check what color might be under there, but the finish looks flawless and perfectly shiny (you can see it especially on the edge). The T-Mobile T is there under the clear coat.

I like the jazz too when playing alone in my living room. When I play with my band I like my p-bass. Sits better in the mix.

I still prefer Ps to Js but own some really stellar Js that simply have to get pulled out for gigs from time to time. You can't go wrong with either one. However, having (at least) one of each is the way to go, IMHO.
