This thread has helped me realize that while I mistakenly believed I had too many basses, what I actually had was too much stuff that isn't basses. Thanks, I can now proceed to sell off all my non-bass related stuff and make room for the fifty or so basses that I really, really want

Just started stringing 'em with flats so that it's 5 years (or more) between restring days!

Your problem is you spend too much time thinking and thinking always leads to trouble. Just do. No think. Do. You didn't get to where you are today by thinking.

Also, 17 is not really a number you settle on. It's a nothing number. Get more basses until you land on a number with a bit of pep, a bit of zing, you know what I mean. 24, 48, 25, 32 these are good numbers.
