I need to go on an EDEN rant!

That spec sheet also advertises 320 Watts RMS @4Ω. This combo without modification will not do that.

You are right . . .

However, you could easily wire the auxiliary speaker jack in parallel, and then use an 8-Ohm extension cabinet when needed.

That way, combo convenience and portability are preserved.

Then, if you need more power, headroom, volume, etc, you can just add an 8-Ohm extension cabinet.

i don't get this.. you're complaining about an amp you bought FOUR years ago?? and you just recently bothered to inquire about the extension speaker jack's wiring scheme??

then when the CS rep is vague, or misquotes what is already printed in the owner's manual, you get upset that he does not repeat what is already printed.. on a four year old product..

did you purchase this combo, new?? or used?? if it's used, someone could have swapped speakers prior to you buying it.. if it was new, then are *all* the RS115 combos equipped with 8 Ohm - 250W speakers??

if so, then you should contact Eden and request a replacement 4 Ohm speaker.. because that is *not* what you had purchased.. it was not advertised that way, and it states in the manual that it's 4 Ohms..

i have a Nemesis NC-212 combo, and i've had no problems with it at all.. and when i bought it, i fully understood the extension speaker jack as being wired in series.. which is not a big deal, since i specifically bought this amp as a combo.. sans extension cabs..

Your right! you don't get it...

In hindsight this would have been the thing to do, but I already thought for the past several years this combo was already wired in parallel, and the combo was farting out with the stock speaker/s so I decided to make it just a more usable standalone giving it the 320watts with the 600watt 4ohm carvin speaker. Of course I also thought I could never add another ext. cab after i did the speaker mod because of the amp min load of 4ohms. Now a 4ohm ext. cab would give me 8ohms total for around 200watts when running with the combo, I think that would work pretty well?

With the stock extension jack wired in series, you would have a safe 8-Ohm load. You will have to judge how well it works. Best!

I think that the frustrating part is that Eden CS is misinformed about their own products, plus they've misinformed end users that the wiring is on the RS115 is parallel, when in fact it is series. The customer shouldn't have to be doing tech work to figure this out on their own.

It's not IMO tech work if the OP couldn't be bothered to plug a cable into the extension cab jack and see what happened, or pose the question here, four years ago, at the very least.

That's even if OP did consult the manual and simply didn't believe it.

Eden customer service is what it is. There are some good people but they have an enormous portfolio of products to cover and get stretched too thinly. The new ownership hasn't changed this, yet. I do hope that eventually the owners will put enough capital into the business that they can provide support that lives up to the slogans, as well as badly needed new product development. Time will tell. In the meantime, resale prices on Eden are low, and NOS closeouts are available at killer prices, so there are cherries to be picked.

Well... if it were me, I probably would have read the manual from cover to cover, read through the forum, and used a meter to check for myself. But some people are less technically adept....

The OP called Eden CS and was confidently misinformed about the product he had purchased. He trusted their expertise on their own product, and they were wrong. While somewhat understandable, it is not acceptable business practice. This error on Eden's part cost him time and money, giving sufficient cause for complaint about Eden's customer service.

I agree. My point is IMO the OP shares the responsibility here, along with Eden CS. We all screw up at times, it's just reality.

And that's YOUR opinion.

If you have a vehicle that the manual states is an 8 cylinder and you go buy 8 spark plugs and wires to do a tune up and come to find out your car is only 6 cylinders, you call the manufactuer, and they verify it's 8 cylinders but you clearly have a 6 cylinder vehicle in your driveway how is it the owners fault if the manual AND customer service is wrong. :hmm:

Eden tone is great. Eden support not so much.

I'll reiterate:

And that's YOUR opinion. We disagree. That's fine.

Especially if you won't open the hood and look. :D

Well, I have been able to read a ohm meter for years and have worked on my own gear quite a bit. I did not know until recently how easy it was to check if this combo is wired in series or not. "Plug in a speaker cable to the ext. jack and see if the internal speaker makes a sound or not", your right EASY if I knew that when I bought it, but I took CS at their word at the time since they built it and I wanted to make sure I purchased a combo that had an 8ohm speaker that it was wired in parallel to get the full use of internal amp. Is that any of MY fault I listened to the BUILDER because what they where saying made "parallel" sense?

Not really sure how valid your opinion is on this one okcrum??

Edit: I remember reading this spec sheet on the Eden website which states 320watts @ 4ohms Impedence 8ohms while I was waiting for the combo to arrive at the music store I purchased it at, which is the whole reason I called them as I had heard most of the older combos where wired in series?

BTW its still listed on their new version (which is the same product basically) E115C, you would think after 4 years Eden would get it right by letting the customers know they are getting a 200watt max combo?

While I agree with your rant against Eden as the info they provided you was wrong, the specs. on there new combo amp are pretty easy to see that it is an 8ohm combo.

E115C SPECS
Power 320W @ 4Ω
Speakers 15" ES1560-8
Tweeter T2004
Crossover 3.kHz. @ 12dB
Power Handling 320W RMS
Freq. Response 38hz - 18khz ±2dB
Sensitivity 100dB SPL@1W1M
Impedance 8Ω
Dimensions 24.75"w x 17.25"h x 16.25"d
Weight 42 LBS

Eden has never been the best at updating there website or there user manuals, but that spec is easy too see that it is an 8ohm combo.
