I've only been on TB for a couple months and it's been snowing for 3 days up here.....is this the typical route the threads take ? I thought the OP got off a pretty weak punt back there but it's been a series of backward laterals and fumbles ever since. Highly entertaining

Greed and free trade are the actual reasons I believe outsourcing to foreign countries became so fashionable. Unions are what provided assurances like insurance, livable wages and retirement plans. Do you know who gets the money that use to be spent on those items ? Stockholders and C level mgmt.
Yes, that 12% of the workforce is really rocking their power. the explosion of workers wages and pensions in this country is just ridiculous. Money is flowing like wine to working man.

you guys defending unions are probably either union cronies or have never worked for one...
I have! I was forced! no choice! in certain professions and i got ta tell you all they did was take money out of my pocket, and off the table of my family (in the form of dues)...and fail me when i actually needed them. I was forced to buy my PPE and my tools and my uniforms and boots from the union store....guess what..they were much much cheaper elsewhere!!! But I digress from the topic at hand and of course this has been MY personal experience...
unions are basically cartels that raise wages above competitive levels by restricting the supply of workers to various industry and by so doing...unions reduce the number of jobs in unionized firms... all union gains come at the expense of non-union workers, American consumers and American businesses.
and don't get me started on the AFM

If you really want to work for lower wages there's plenty in Indonesia or China. no reason to stay here and put up with getting paid an artificially high wage.
If you think profit for company owners and stockholders is defined as greed then you are sadly mistaken. Free trade makes consumers happy because of lower prices. No happy consumers, no sales, no profits, no jobs. What brought on assurances of insurance, higher wages and retirement plans was when companies needed bargaining chips to hire prospective quality, highly skilled employees. Your right, stockholders get a return on their investment. Without stockholders there would be no companies thus no jobs. Companies don't just spring up overnight to create union jobs. They have to be financed by investors and stockholders.
Yes I've been in two different unions in the past. Glad to get away from them and become a salaried employee where I was paid for my amount of worth to my company and not paid the same as the lowest member of the company workforce. I have a much higher retirement from my company that I would have had if I had remained union.
OK. Lots of politics and other talk. Good. I know one thing: I had a US Spector that was a super quality build, no question. Lowest action I ever played. You know what? I discovered that it was not a fit for FOR ME. I do not want active, quick and precise. I discovered I wanted the American Precision, wider neck, 9.5 radius, passive P/U through an all tube amp. A fit FOR ME.. Higher action and all. Sold the Spector and got me a 2008 American Standard ( for $600..Still braggin' months later 
). It's me. I will buy another too at some point. Quality is wonderful.
