I think I'm addicted to OCTAVERS!!

just dropped in to say, as I have before, that the EBS octabass is undeserving of its black sheep status- it tracks like a boss and its the only one besides (and maybe even better than) the aguilar in terms of a natural, subtle, with-the-bass-guitar fat octave down. Oc-2 is so classic, aguilar SubT are the shiznit, but octabass deserves a medal for its underrated functionality. I have gotten compliments and inquiries everytime I have used the octabass. and compared to the MXR? pleeeeeeease ;)

Shoot, the subT does a great oc-2 niche without the signal loss; the aguilar is the MXR's sexier, more successful big brother

I have heard that the subT sounds like an improved version of the OC2. So in the end I might scrap the OC2 instead of the BOD, but right now I doubt it. I might use the subT as a non-octaver synth tone generator, I'll have to mess around with it.

I had very high hopes for the BOD, and it's been on my board for years, but it's never delivered quite the awesome kick or punch in the band's soundstage that I had hoped for. Sounds killer on it's own, but I have to run it absolutely cranked to remain present in the band mix, and then it only does just that. I am hoping for something sexier.

The Aggie was a huge disappointment for me, as were all of their pedals, because they just unpleasantly glitchy distort on the input level of my basses, making them unusable. It's a shame. I don't know why such an otherwise good company would make their effects with so little headroom on the input side. If it wasn't the case I'd own two or three Aggie pedals.

I've owned a lot of the names dropped around here. Currently using the mxr bod, ie SubT, and mantic density hulk.

Mxr is the pedal I've owned longest. So much a part of who I am. Active and passive both work wonders with it. I've just learned to work the pedal and it does what I want it to.

SubT is used mostly for the synth voices, but I concede that it's octaver is superior to the mxr in tracking, though the tone is different enough. Hence I have both on my board.

Density hulk is there to bring the brown note. Meatbox might also do it, but I prefer the hulks rock solid construction over dod.

Oc2 had I volume drop I couldn't hang with.

Digitech bsw was a good pedal, but redundant for me.

Line6 m9 has fantastic octave and pitch shifting. Always keep them around.

Eventide h9, the octaver is kind of boring to me, but I use the pitchflex to do the dive bomb -1 sound. Pretty rad for that.

Never tried the Aguilar, but it's on my list when I get disposable income again.

But yeah, I'm also addicted to octavers. If I only brought 1 pedal to a gig, I'd be real tough to choose between drive and octave.
