Hi Mike,

It looks like EA has a real winner on their hands with the Micro 300. I'm looking forward to trying one out with my Wizzy.

My only question is regarding the DI being pre or post EQ. I understand that this is something either EA or my dealer can change. I wish it was something I could change.

When going to a recording board, I'd like it post EQ. When going to a board for FOH, I'd like it pre EQ. This is something I'm changing every week.

Is this something that is truly not user modifiable?

They are jumpers on the inside. like on a computer motherboard. It is any easy change for a qualified person

What I'm anticipating in the not-too-distant future is a line of airhead speaker cabinets into which one of these lightweight gems can be plugged; in my fantasies, they'll be available with a variety of removeable (like a car stereo) faceplates.

Buy the basic unit to obtain the power and number of channels you want, and buy the faceplate that gives you the controls & feature set you're willing to pay for.

Slide the unit into the airhead of the cab you're taking to the gig; pull it out and put it in a different cab for another gig. The cabinets will each have a digital interface that feeds its digital sound processing "signature" to the head unit.

If I start saving $100-per-week today, I should be in a position to buy one by the time they're available - if I'm still young enough to be playing by then :hmm:

Oh, wow! For those of you who have not played it, the iAMP 200 is a very full, warm yet clear amp. In some ways, it was my favorite tone of the iAMP series (though it's really hard to pick favorites, and they are all variations on a similar theme). But one thing that always struck me about the iAMP 200 was it's ability to successfully drive cabs that I otherwise would think 'needed' a lot more power to sound good. That, and the touch of musical warmth that it always brought.

This is very good news, AFAIAC. :hyper:

I like them all 'best' for certain situations/cabs/reasons. The iAMP 500 is fantastic, and probably my top pick of my iAMPs for many cabs. The 200 is a tad more warm and organic, though not as dynamic nor as 'open' as the 500, and does not pack the visceral punch of the 800, though it does a 'stout, lower volume thing' very well, if that makes any sense.

I wonder if the 200 is warmer and more organic because at a given volume, it's working harder than either the 500 or 800.

I had an 800 for a bit but didn't care for it. I'm planning on trying the Micro 300. Hopefully I'll hear this organic warmth in it. As far as everything else with the amp, it looks great.

Naah man, the genius that is Gary/Larry/John did all the hard work on this one.. all I did was the panel layout and artwork. The EA guys are the ones that continue the innovative trend and keep the bass industry on it's toes. If this thing really sounds like the 200 series, I can't wait to hear it!

I've seen all the incarnations of the design - and I have to tell you, Todd's work just kept getting better and better. It was hard to fit everything that needed to on that tiny little head and still make it flow, be informative, welcoming to the user and of course, classy.

Everyone at EA is thrilled with Todd's amazing design skill. It's too bad you can't see the backdrop he designed for the NAMM booth

Well the layout looks VERY good.. very nice looking piece of gear all the way around. I look forward to trying one out.
