So it appears there is a BTB550 MP and a less common BTB550 AH., being maple and ash respectively. I didn't realize this.
These basses are tremendous bang for your buck. Great value here for sure.

Do they sell this single cut basses in Japan only or is it possible for any Ibanez retailer to order this beautiful basses?
I can't guarantee it of course, but a lot of the time the large dealers like Thomann will sell them. And sometimes they get officially released on a different continent 6-12 months later. Since you're in Germany you could try to contact either Thomann or the Ibanez distributor MEINL.

I just bought a BTB 686 terra firma… its a used bass and I have to investigate a little time to make it perfect… but of course it already sounds good and has much potenztial.
First of all I want to change the strings to my favored Nickels. Do you know if the regular Daddario EXL 170 regular light are long enough? I somehow dislike the nyxl. What do you think of Fodera Nickels Xl - has someone tried them already on his BTB?
Another questiom regards the use of Dunlop Formula 65 polish for cleaning Body and Neck
(the wood seems a little bit dry, there are many stains from fingers etc) - do you think its the right polish for this bass?

Long Scale D'Addario strings (37.1" winding length) are long enough. I have the 5 string Terra Firma (BTB685SC) as my main bass since 2015. It did come with Extra Long Elixir strings (38" winding length), but ever since the 1st string change, I've yet to put on other Extra Long nor Super Long scale strings.
I had several Long Scale D'Addario Flex Steels sets on this bass for quite sometime before D'Addario discontinued them. Currently I have Dunlop Super Bright Stainless Steels 40-120 (37.25" winding length). These are all long enough for my Terra Firma.
Frank, two sets of strings I like on my BTB are:
Ernie Ball Slinkys - Good tone with clean, clear sustain.
Or
D’Addario Similar to the Slinkys, but a little warmer.
You can’t go wrong with either.

I meant to say the D’Addario set are: EXL-170.
So you made the same experience as Aidil: Despote the 35 inch scale there is no need for extra long or super long strings?

Ok, now I know that its possible to use Dunlop F65 to clean an polish this wood. I also exchanged the knobs. I plan to change strings as soon as possible, then I can also clean the fretboard.
Yes, any 35” set will fit a BTB.
The headstock is very well designed to make the bass shorter overall.
This is not the case with my Shecter CV-5. It is very long, and it requires the longest G string that’s available.
That's a beautiful bass. I have a BTB 675/maple neck that looks very similar, but it has a double cutaway. It's not a lightweight bass but manageable. How much weight does that extra top body piece add to the weight?
FWIW, I've had pretty good luck with D'Addario NYXL bass strings.
