I thought that, too, but closer inspection reveals a chrome cover over the middle and/or bridge pickup. It is not a single, although the neck pickup is slanted at an angle.

I had a Japanese bass with those very same pickups in it. Mid scale 32", sounded great! In this case it's a dilemma of horns.The size of that thing's horns, I would guess a robust 12lbs+.
I had something there about the horns of a dilemma but it's gone... no wait... no, it's gone.
