If you want to whinge about the law of diminishing returns versus utility, my wife has a handbag that is worth more than the Emporer that the OP thinks is too expensive. It doesn't even fit that much stuff in it!

You can trade it for a Fodera, something useful.![]()
Here's a question.....
Who is crazier, someone like myself that owns 7 or 8 basses all worth in the $2000 range each or someone that owns two $8500 Foderas?
I own many great basses (so do MANY of the TBers responding to this thread) but they obviously can't all be played on every gig or rehearsal. Two Foderas (or high end Smiths, Ritters, Alembecs, etc.) would get a lot more love for similar $$$.
Just curious....
Threads like this pop up from time to time, and debate gets heated. But it's really a pointless exercise. Some people drive a Suzuki and some people drive a Mercedes. They're both cars, and both have their fans. There will always be people who insist a Squier meets their needs, while another requires a Fodera. As long as you the owner are comfortable with the price and enjoy it, be it cars, basses, and curling irons, nothing else matters.
Do Mercedes owners claim that the workers care, really care about the cars? More than Suzuki employees? Do the Mercedes employees put "love" into their cars? Do they hug their cars goodbye and hope the owners send the corporation photos of the cars years down the road??

I think you'd be surprised. There are a LOT of old Benzes on the road that people are VERY sentimental about.
There are a lot of old Ramblers on the road people are sentimental about, too. Back on point, I'm positive that Daimler doesn't really care about Mercedes owners who's cars are out of warranty.
Are Mercedes boutique cars, where the owner of the company builds them by hand with a small group of people?
They still make parts for those ancient cars. I think they care plenty.

They charge boutique prices. And PRICE is what this is all about.
