This is a model, but for me the coolest thing about this car is that the first memory of it is as an early(60s)Hot Wheels car. I didn't even realize there was a real car like this. It is jet-powered.

Not only was it turbine powered, but it was also 4 wheel drive. That model has smaller front tires than the real one, where all the tires were the same size; take a look. I remember the '67 Indy 500 really well --many of us were rooting really hard for it to break, which it did. It was a shoe in for the win as far as speed though...

Allison? I seem to recall there being a few of those in boats when I was little...

Prolly, Allisons were common, but some had Rolls-Royce engines too back then IIRC.

I saw one modern era (more or less) hydro race on Lake Washington, most but not all the boats were turbine powered and ridiculously fast. Seafair is quite the party too.
