Never has a bass with a set neck, but had a few Gibbo Juniors. Never had a problem with them, but I have with acoustic instruments.,
I did have several problems with neck-through basses, the worst being a Linc Luthier 5 fretless that developed a hump at the dusty end, and rise towards the nut from the G on E. This resulted in choking of notes across the 'board. The only guy who would touch it said the super-massive tailpiece would have to be counter-sink the bridge to get a low-playable string height. I decided against that route, and just went with the 'board plane and moved it on.
