I'm officially boycotting Guitar Center

The side effect of this is that you have to put money down to try things out...whereas I just have to drive to the store. A little bit of my time saves me the waiting game & potentially being unsatisfied.

I am a big believer in supporting GOOD "bricks and mortar" stores, avoiding BAD stores and playing before I pay. TrueTone in Santa Monica (http://www.truetonemusic.com/)- THAT is a GD music store. Seriously. That place is what a music store SHOULD be. Sadly, stores like TrueTone are rare indeed.

I would concede, that there exist, for the time being,
stores that actually are worse than guitard center.
I have never been IN one.
And I hope that I never Am.

However, the possibility, that a turd smells worse than a fart,
will NOT motivate me to rally in defense of, or in support of,
the fart.

If it stinks and is offensive, that is what it is.
I do however reserve the right to
LOL at a fart.
Just saying.

Ok, I have to concide that that turd smells worse than a fart line was solid gold :D

HAHA

I can personally guarantee you that GC does not suck compared to any other music store. There are three within a 5 mile radius of the Pasadena TX GC that are absolutely terrible compared to GC
What this all boils down to is our opinions. Your opinion is that GC is the best store out there. My opinion, along with a few other people on here is that GC is horrible. There is almost nothing worth going to guitar center for. Opinion. You keep yours, I'll keep mine. Your good experience in Texas doesn't change my bad experiences in Arizona, California, Iowa, New York New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, and Maine.

I must be a moderate. My GC experience is that it is neither a great place to shop, nor does it suck.

I don't usually get the greatest service there, but I do get left alone to try out instruments, and there are some pretty decent instruments to choose from.

My opinion isnt that GC is the best store out there. My opinion is that they are just average, and your horror stories are over blown. Danny D's Guitar Hacienda, Rockin Robin, Kats Guitars, and Fullers Guitars are all better than guitar center, but its a totally different market stratagy.

In YOUR opinion they are overblown. Many of us value our time more than you do apparently. We have wasted a great deal of it putting up with incompetent GC lemmings.

Why so bitter and spiteful? Why the need to tell the masses how you were wronged by the evil big box guitar retailer?
I'm going to have to say... That was possibly the worst question you could have asked me. I won't even answer it. I'll just sit here and giggle at the concept of answering it. Wow. It actually makes me nod my head in amazement at the question.

WHY would someone share their horrible experiences at a retailer with people sharing the same interests??? Oh... I don't have any clue... I really am clueless as to why I would suggest NOT subjecting everyone else to the idiocy that I have had to deal with.

I am just a consumer, not happy with services rendered by a company. My review is public. Why don't you have a little sit down with the masses.

poopie... Maybe its just me. I'm sorry. I'm going to go to guitar center tonight and apologize ahead of time to all the future ex-employees.

@Hopkins I'm curious... are you reading any of those reviews? 1.8/10??? C'mon. That is not JUST me.

Online reviews don't really sway me one way or the other. Someone who is dissatisfied will always write a review before someone who had a good experience. But yes, I read some of the reviews, most of the negative reviews were people over reacting to minor issues, like a guitar ordered on line arriving with a minor fret buzz, or an item being back ordered. I have been to Guitar Centers Houston, Austin, Kileen Tx, Florida, Oklahoma, and Louisiana, NYC and New Mexico and haven't had any negative experiences that would urge me to go online and write up a scathing negative review. Most of those visits to GC was just to buy a pack of strings or maybe a cord. I grabbed them off the wall, they took my money and that was that. Maybe my expectations and standards are just to low, maybe a bikini clad female should have been following me around feeding me grapes while another gave me a back rub.

I don't really have any way to compare GC to any other big box retailer, I have never been to Sam Ash as there are none in my area. Mars Music was cool back in the 90s when I was in high school.

But you NEVER went in a S.A. .....
Because you don't have one down the fuking street?
:rollno:

Mars was cool, But I sneezed, and missed the grand opening/going out of business sales.

That's a bit ridiculous. How is she supposed to feed you grapes while giving you a back rub?

Upon further review, I see you have relegated the task to two bikini clad females, and now it sounds quite reasonable.
