Hopkins, I'm sorry brother but you are very blind. You refuse to give in to online reviews, well guess what. You won't see any written reviews. I am not at all saying that you shouldn't go to guitar center. They are great for strings/straps/picks. Small things, but for anything costing more than a 20$ bill watch out. They will try to upsell you for commission. Truthfully at guitar center you have to walk in with actual blinders on. Go straight for what you went there for and not look around. They do not have your interests at heart no matter what you think. All they care about is the green in your pocket.

I am not at all saying that you shouldn't go to guitar center. They are great for strings/straps/picks. Small things, but for anything costing more than a 20$ bill watch out. Mars was cool, But I sneezed, and missed the grand opening/going out of business sales.
I was actually guitar teching for a friends band, and had to stop in for strings every once in a while. We stopped at GC because they had the stores pinned on the GPS. I have honestly never seen a Sam Ash store in all of my travels
I read a lot on this site. What I've read of Hopkins makes me doubt he has any issues at all with his eyesight.
Guitar Center could do better, but I agree with him on online reviews. I've bought a number of items whose online reviews said they were junk, only to really enjoy them, for a very long time.

I don't mind them trying to up sell me, its how they make their money. If they ask me if I am interested in a certain item I either say sure or no thanks. I have never gotten the hard sell on anything, if I did I would put a stop to that instantly as that is something I don't put up with.
I do believe this is correct.
But I am almost positive most come shipped to them without a case.
I have a few friends whom work there and have seen them taking shipments off the trucks and opening the boxes without seeing any cases.
Maybe it has something to do with bulk buying/price points?

LOL I wish that was the case. Over 3000$ spent at American Musical this year alone. If I shopped at Guitar Center - I wouldn't spend a dime.

Well, for what it's worth; Spirit of Ox- boycott away to your heart's content. While it may make you happy, I don't think your local GC will care; if they did, you wouldn't have those problems. There are 2 GC's here in Las Vegas; I almost never go to either of them, because:
1. They're too far away (although one is close to the local Fry's Electronics, and I go there a lot);
2. They never have anything left-handed, except an occasional Squire starter kit (and I'm not about to swap my Alembic for one of those);
3. I really don't think I should have to explain to a music store employee that; a) a Bass guitar is not the same as a "real" guitar, and; b) not only are the strings different from a "real" guitar, they also come in different lengths, too. And anyway, whatever I want, they never have; and
4. Sam Ash, and Cowtown Guitars, are much closer to home; almost everyone who works there is a guitar/bass player, and they do occasionally have a lefty or two. And they usually have what I need, or will try very hard to get it quick-as-a-bunny, if they don't. And they call me when it comes in.
That said, I did go to the GC in South Bend, Indiana, this summer, and it was a totally different experience from the ones here. Nice, knowledgeable people (musicians. too!) and even a lefty or 2 to mess with. So, just the luck of the draw, I guess. Oh, before I forget; one of the GC's here has Pin Cushion Chick's twin brother working the door (at least, I think it's a guy...).

I'm not telling myself anything. They could be in trouble or not, for all I know or care. I just don't expect them to be anything more than what they are, which is a Walmart for musicians that hires minimum wage salespersons. I don't think that whatever troubles they may or may not have are due to your pitching a hissy fit about them not carrying a part you wanted. Get over it.
Wow. Just wow. They have the part. They do not stock it. That does not mean that they do not carry it. Learn the difference. The kid was too lazy help me out real quick. That is just a simple example of how bad their customer services. I've had nothing but bad customer service from them throughout the years with the small exception of one or two times that I was just ignored and it was pleasant at Guitar Center. Its pretty bad when you have to be ignored, to enjoy being somewhere.
