Inglourious Basterds

I consider myself enough of a fan of QT to be interested in whatever his newest project is for one reason: I have yet to watch one of his films only to come away feeling it was a waste of my time. I do not love them all equally, but I have enjoyed each enough to warrant ownership. His artistry of film lies, in my view, not only within his ear for dialogue and his soundtrack panache, but also in his abilty to create genre films that evoke their influence with a modern flair. That his catalogue is filled with relatively high-quality films, as well as at least two stellar ones, outstrips most directors outright for consistency in product. He delivers, and I appreciate that.

LA Times quoted Quentin today about his characters "are not aware of history...they just exist".

I admit... i am a ginormous movie snob. I've always been kinda indifferent with Tarantino. He reminds me of me when it comes to talking about movies and where he gets his inspiration from. His movies themselves have always, to me, been good-not-great. I think he shines with dialogue. Which is why Kill Bill Vol. 2 is and always will be better than the first one. Also, in regards to Kill Bill... my favorite parts were the cameo's of both Sony Chiba and Gordon Liu.

I'll see Inglorious Basterds for sure, as it will most assuredly be better than 90% of any other wide release movie.

I do think Brad Pitt is a terrible actor(aside from the stoner character he played in True Romance) so i'm not stoaked on that front... LOL war-pun.

I think he's a good actor... Fight Club, The Ocean's movies, Se7en,etc.

I thought it was an absolute piece of garbage that ran an hour too long. Damn near every scene was too long. A lot of fat could have been cut out and the movie would have been better for it. Its as if he couldn't decide whether to write a comedy or an action flick so he combined both and it ended up being neither.

I seriously, seriously would not recommend this movie unless you absolutely worship the ground Quentin writes overly long, boring dialogue on.

Good lord.

Even people I know who don't like Tarantino films say they aren't bad films, but not their style.

Whats your story for this one? This is first negative response to the film so far.

Pfft... with all due respect, sounds like someone expecting to hate before they went in. Tarantino movies are meant to be nothing more than entertainment fast food: you know-have fun and dont take too seriously? I cant say that there is one of his movies that is a mind-blowing favorite, but I usually get a kick out of them anyway. To each his own...
