For your clips I think in sound quality the battle for svts goes in from best down.

Jamup
It was very dynamic and clean in the way of no weird sounding harsh distortion and "throaty" at the same time

Ampkit
Sounded just as good as the jamup. I thought it could be the file compression in earlier sound posts but...Throaty and all but it has this strange buzzy harsh top end. idk if it was ampkit attemp to make the sound more "airy" but it seems to be brittle in the highs and distorts nicely but in a digital kind of "digi buzz"

Amplitube
Muffley not as dynamic it didn't seem to have presence .....compared to the other clips... like there was a low pass filter on and it started at 2500hz also a slight bit of "digi buzz"
I never really "loved" the SVT clone in AT it was good at the time at the beginning....but it sounds like a solid state version. Like maybe it was the ampeg svt 450h clone not that it was a bad amp it just is not as musical sounding and "open" like the others.

I edited my last post because I added more to it to better clarify.
The distortion in the treble end that the ampkit version has does make it sound more airy but it sounds like a digital clipping instead of a overdriven buzz.

Like I said I hear it in the clips. You may not hear them while you're playing. It may be a file compression thing that shows up after the conversion.

I must say, that yes Billy is a great stage act, but his playing or overplaying never talked to me. His solo's are non melodic and seems to go nowhere. For me he is just a fast/ very fast/ very very fast bass player. He is a shredder and like many guitar shredders speed is not everything.

I will always prefer to listen to somebody like Squire, Geddy, Wooten, Levin etc.

Billy's tone is also nothing but ubber compression.

But I might be wrong, if somebody can enlighten me by showing me a clip where Billy play a tasty and melodic lick so... :hiding:

http://youtu.be/p49yndQKoFE - This is an excellent example of Billy's pholosophy on music which may surprise anyone that thinks he is nothing but a shredder. Billy is one of the most gifted educators in addition to a very gifted player... Trust me, Billy can lay it down like the baddest cat you can name... he is known for solo's so many people like to post on youtube but that is really only a small part of what he is about.. Not everyone's thing but he is way more than a guitar player on the bass which is evident if you dig a little deeper than the stuff everyone is familiar with.

Thanks! Well, Niacin is actually nice.
So, my conclusion, Billy is a more interesting player then I thought!! So, he can groove and play melodic, BUT, that said his solo's.... I do not like his solo's... :hiding: :D :hiding:

Niacin is cool!

...."Some group from the UK".......
LOL

I had to say that as sometimes it seems to us Europeans that what is going on out side the US is exotic news as best.... lol
Btw, yes, YES are from the UK, Rush are from Canada. Spock's Beard are from the US, but my guess about nobody in TB knows about them. Shame, they are among the greatest neo - prog act.

Try to bring this conversation back to iOS and emulation stuff.
Dave Meros use Amplitube (desktop) in studio, Steve Howe use Line6 emulation LIVE!!!! He stopped using real amps and pedals a while ago as he need so many sounds. So now he use the latest Line6 pedal and a 50W Line6 amp. For him all his sounds are just a catalogue number/ name. He also use the Line6 Variax on some songs. Very cool form one of the greatest prog rock guitar players!!!
Geddy as we knows is a pioneer in using hardware emulation through his Sansamp preamps and his speaker emulation unit. He stopped having amps on stage in the 90's.

There is an update available today for Midimorphosis that fixes the issues we've seen with ugly noises and also startup problems.

The only problem left to fix that I've seen (so far) is that when you shut it down, it locks up Jamup if you are mixing the two.

Still, the update really helps.
