The different regarding sound on recording is minimal but "live" sound is better since you do not use the headphone socket.

I have the iTrack as well - but it is my first interface so I can't compare

What I love is that big fat knob to adjust my headphone volume instead of messing around with buttons or touch control

Also, it has 48v phantom for the xlr input.

The thing is pretty compact and light - but rugged (mine has gone a'flyin a couple times)

The connect "cord" is very short and very thick. It is that way to protect from interference in and out. (Apple inc. would not give them the stamp of approval with anything else - so they can't include a longer cable and still mark it "Made for iPad" or whatever)

It also comes with Ableton "Live 8" (or maybe 9 now) that you load onto your PC. I don't know what it does because I haven't looked at it at all. I sould check that out sometime - and it isn't a trial demo - but it isn't their full lode either.

One of us with an iTrack and iPad dangling out of our bass output at a live gig - and we are kicking ass and that stuff is flinging around -

The crowd will be wondering: "what the heck is that!"

The iTrack looks like a good option for me. I just downloaded GarageBand for my iPad...wow. Even without an interface you can do so much. I like that the iTrack is both iOS and iMac compatible, too.

i dunno. i haven't spent enough time to get super profficient with it, but i like that they're trying something different. it's an odd approach but i have friends that swear by it.

we used to use it to run a buttload of backing tracks and host Kontakt and it was a rock solid beast.

Anyone mess with any of the drum apps yet and know of a good one? A decent app with an MPC-type layout could replace my Roland Handsonic, which is a big pain in the ass just to keep in the house, let alone haul around.

does anyone know if there would be an issue running an ipod touch with an alesis io dock?

I know it wont fit in the dock but a 5 dollar extension cable would fix this, assuming there isn't a software compatibility issue.

DM1 has pads. Also has piano roll type editors. My favorite drum app. Be sure to explore ALL the kits. There's a bunch, and some of them are REALLY out there!!

Just took a look and it's Audiobus capable too- I'll get it tomorrow. I'm also getting a hang drum app of some kind- my drummer and I have both been dying to get a really nice one like the Halos, but they're usually really hard to get a hold of and very expensive.

yah. i would be surprised if Alesis doesn't make a lightning port version available sooner rather than later.

sucks you can't find what you're looking for. the IO Dock is purrrrrrfect for me.

just changed the keyboard from the Alesis Q25 to the QX25. verrrrry cool. adds 8 rotary knobs and 4 pads. only played with AniMoog and IK Piano but so far thr CC assigning have been a breeze.

What's the voltage/mA draw on the QX25 anyways? It's manual isn't online anywhere, and I wouldn't want to guess that it's the same as the Q25.

it says 5v, it works off one of the adapter cables that comes in the OneSpot pack (Q25 is the same size). i've been running it off a OneSpot with the Year2525 and the Possessed.

soooo.... so far 9v seems to be fine?

Looks like Alesis iO Dock has competition... about time too! Like the iO Dock, the Behringer iS202 powers the iPad. Too bad Behringer doesn't tell us whether it's 24 bit clean, nor what the gain levels are. Supposedly a lightning connector version is coming soon.

It's a good thing if it is vaporware, because the new iPad would have made it obsolete. A new version with a Lightning adapter would be great though.

mIDwESTbEAST reminded me about the IO Mix. iiiiiiiiiiiii...... think i want. looks pretty awesome.

i would like it better if it had 4 outs as well though. i'm kinda finding myself wanting the control of sending drums out to one set of efx and keys out to another. i haven't looked at if you can set some apps to always go out just left channel and others just right. that might be a solution.

also, looks like the IO Mix has changeable inputs, so you can swap 30 pin with lightning. seems like an elegant solution.

Of course this could all be hype... no way to know about the audio quality and compatibility-connectivity issues until people start using them. Hopefully Behringer will treat their customers better than Alesis has done.

According to the Behringer rep in the video, iS202 was supposed to be in stores last month. Maybe a freighter got stuck out in the S. China Sea or something.

The Behringer rep specifically mentions a iS202 Lightning version in the CES video. BTW, Alesis says they are NOT going to make a Lightning version of the iO Dock. They've had so many production problems and, from what I can see in Alesis Forums, lots of iO Dock returns... it's probably not profitable for Alesis to try for a Lightning version.

Here is the email I just sent Behringer about the iS202. I'll update after I get a response.

Hi, Andrew,

I viewed your announcement last week in Behringer forums titled "iSTUDIO iS202 is now shipping!" I am curious to know how soon the product will be available for order. I see it at B&H Photo labeled "New item, not available yet." I cannot locate any retailer with an iS202.

I have four questions about the Behringer iS202:

(1) Is the Apple Lightning Connector version shipping? If not, how soon?

(2) Is iS202 24-bit clean on input and output sides, or does it have a 16 bit audio bottleneck somewhere?

(3) What is the measured (not theoretical) audio latency on input and output?

(4) How many decibels gain (+ or -) is possible on input and output?​

This product is marketed as a "Professional iPad Docking Station." I am pretty sure most audio pros are going to want answers to these questions.
