I’ve had a small handful of IE pedals in my time. I wish I could’ve kept them all. He makes some of the coolest stuff. His chorus pedal is the bizz-neezzz’ss! I always and still want a Nimbus. Now I see this arching Prisms… what’s this?!? And now you’re going to be somewhat MIA till next year coming up pretty soon?! sorry to hear that @Taylor Livingston. But yeah, I’m missing some IE on my board. Always really dug your work man. I still remember the first time I learned of you years back. Saw your pedals and was like hell yeah! You we’re doing things back then a lot of companies are doing now stylistically in some ways. In my eyes anyway. You def got the looks and the tones goin. Kudos

Arcing Prisms is a frequency shifter that's nested in a delay loop. Note that it's not a pitch shifter but a frequency shift.

Ok, so I plugged in...and didn't mess with any settings, just ensured the volume wasn't gonna destroy anything and started playing. The out of box settings were so dreamy I hung on them for at least an hour before looking up what the controls did and started exploring.

This was instant love at first note...which doesn't always happen with me and weirdos like this. Even though those are my favorite kinds of pedals, some of them don't inspire and frustrate. This inspired immediately. I couldn't find a setting that sounded bad to my ears and I love how hard you can push it to the edge of oscillation, but it never gets there. It cops everything from pseudo ring mod to flange and everything in between. I didn't explore with an expression pedal, but did try it out with an El Garatge LFO expression knob which had some cool results.

Arcing Prisms is so much. It's an instant spaceship taking off, it's an eerie trail on your playing, it's a ring mod, no a flange, or even just a light delay. REALLY cool and unique pedal. I can't wait for work to end to play with it more. I thought my main board was locked down, but this is probably going to need a spot.

I feel like I need to spend some time with the pedal and work up some actual sounds. Though that is basically a quick unboxing video of just plug and hit some notes and get an idea of what it does, so at least effective in that way. For me the stuff starting around 4.15 or 4.20 where it sounds like a slightly grindy arpeggiation in a non-pitch shifty way is probably my favorite trick with this.

I also think that this might be worth layering with some stuff. Envelope filter before it and maybe use with a PLL synth. I haven't lined it up with my Mantic Flex Pro, but I bet it would do some REALLY interesting stuff with that feeding it.

I also think that you can sort of 'tune' the frequency shift component so it sounds more or less 'in tune' with whatever key you're playing with. I would most likely only use this maybe once in a set or for recording so that's pretty do-able. There's a place where you can nail something that gives the vibe of 'doubling' in an interesting way.

Welp, after many inconclusive weeks, it seems like Canada Post has lost my Xerograph Deluxe. Taylor has been a standup guy throughout this whole unfortunate situation, so I will not hesitate to do business with Iron Ether in the future. Man, what a bummer though...

Good question about the experience because it's not the sexiest IE pedal but seems very useful for bass players.

Yas. I have one of the early ones and used it on a few hundred gigs.

You're talking about the Divaricator right? I love it, but it took a while for me to figure out how to use it. I've used it with my chorus and fuzz in the FX loop, but now I'm just using it as an inline effect with my low end boosted and the growl switch applied to the mids and up. I use it mostly as a great-sounding overdrive to give myself some growl whenever necessary.

I am thinking about throwing my mod FX back in the loop though, I've just been lazy about updating my board.

Its also very effective to use all kinds of distortion, OD and Fuzz in the loop and I found it particularly useful to have the Xerograph in the loop so the deep deep lows aren't triggered by your bass signal, also to keep clean deep lows and filter above that.

yup, thats how i use it, i've tried a bunch of diff dist/OD/fuzz units in the loop. craziest so far is the Oxide (which is an insano-pedal in of itself), the QF2 works pretty well as well since it seems to cut low bass by itself. Its def a very unique pedal especially with the 3 switches - grunt works great, but the other 2 seem better with synth sounds before XGD as they thicken out the sound. My Divaricator isn't on my board now but i still have love for it...
