On my second Oxide. I am crying tears of pain for selling my original, but they turned into tears of raging joy when I plugged the new one in. Everyone should give Taylor money. Come on, do it, all the cool kids are. You want to be cool, right? Right?!

I had my Xerograph turned on almost all of Friday night with my new fretless bass. Who says you can't rock a filter in heavy as **** music? I don't. Not anymore, no sir. I wish we had recordings of the jam, but nay. Hopefully someday. Maybe even tomorrow...?

Well, the Oxide has been tweaked a bit since first appearing, but is mostly the same as it was when first introduced, and at that time (in 2010) all IE pedals had side jacks. Right now top jacks are available as a custom option on the Oxide.

I thought at one point that everybody, universally, would want top jacks, but it turned out that a lot of people actually prefer side jacks on the Oxide.

That is so weird. Especially if you've got both the Oxide and the Xero right next to each other it makes perfect sense to have them both top jack for maximum space-saving.

I guess this means I have to order a custom Oxide!

i would like.... a Cygnet 2. that would make me OH so happy. just put in an order for a Goatkeeper 3 but a Cyggy V2 would moisten ALL of my parts.

ALL OF THEM TAY-TAY.

Speaking of Cygnet V2... I've been thinking more about what I would want from an expression-pedal-specific trem a'la the Chopper or any trem with an expr. jack. Let me throw this description at you just to see if it lights up any LEDs in your mind...

One expr jack to control both rate and depth at the same time; separate identical sets of knobs & switches for both rate and depth:
--Sensitivity
--Up/down switch (direction of response to pedal sweep)
--Wave shape
--Min end of sweep range
--Max end of sweep range

Those last two would set the specific "coverage" of the range that is swept through.

The Pigtronix Tremvelope ticks many of those boxes, but it's very large, it's not quite dialed in the way I described, and it's not Iron Ether. ;)

Picking those 3 items out of your list, while I agree they are nice features to have that sort of thing is handled by exp/CV controllers like the Moog MP-201 or upcoming Expressionator. I think having control over the exp sweep range, direction, etc. is better handled by such a unit so you can apply that to any/all of your exp controlled pedals, not just having it built into one of them.

Using the Moog idea would require a Moog CV compatible tremolo unit (is there one, with the features I described? The MF-102 won't do it), the MP-201, and the expr. pedal. That's a whole pedalboard of real estate right there, and would cost upwards of $800, and that's if the MP-201 wasn't discontinued.

The Expressionator would work if the trem unit in question had TWO expr inputs, one for rate and one for depth; and even then it doesn't have any control over the max and min points of the sweep range.

I appreciate the suggestions though, and I agree that it would be "most ideal" if the elaborate control rig was separate from the specific effect circuit, IF there was a ready supply of effects devices that were compatible with such a rig.

Ah OK, what I had thought were range pots are actually buttons to toggle each channel on/off. Now I see how the range sweep works.

I guess I'd still prefer having those controls built into the trem itself, because odds are that wouldn't raise the price of the trem by $210, and having the Expressionator means having a third box with two more patch cables and one more power supply needed.

But I do receive your point that it would work. :)
