Iron Ether Subterranea

Okay, I played with mine again today. Thankfully I didn't have a raging headache like I did last time. The noise is part of the Octaver, it seems to behave and be a cool part of the sound most of the time. Other times the noise would start while I was just muting strings, thinking about changing the settings. It seems like it was trying to anticipate what note I was going to play...weird. So I was wondering if there is a chip that does the tracking or something and the voice is all analog.
Then I was playing with the Octasynth and Unisynth. I would hear that same sound but way softer. I turned all of my knobs down to zero and what do you know...I hear the noise. It is quieter but there it is happening when there should be zero sound at all coming through the pedal.
So I am wondering if all the SubTs do this or is just mine, or some do and some don't.
Would some other owners turn everything counterclockwise all the way and report back if they hear anything?
Thanks

Mine did the same thing. It's apparent to me that the unisynth voice bleeds through as if you change the waveform toggle on the unisynth voice it changes the characteristic of the noise.

The mail brought me a bundle of joy. Now just wish I could get home to get the juices flowing through the Subrterranea. :hyper:

Rehousing my oxide in the top moumted box will need to wait.

Got my Sub today!!!

First Impressions: GREAT!!!

I ordered my Subterranea on May 31st and got number 29. Great looking pedal as usually. I was afraid to jump on board before hearing clips. Iron Ether hasn't let me down yet. They really make a unique product line. You can go from traditional sounds to CRAZY with a turn of the knob. The Sub is no different. Straight octave to grindy synth.

A lot of people have been complaining about a noise bleed though even when all knobs are turned down. My unit is no different. It's kind of annoying but not a deal breaker. It actually adds a certain character to the sound.

I got this pedal, like a lot of people, to see if it can dethrone the mighty OC-2. In a one word answer...MAYBE. If you're looking for a smooth sounding octave this may not be for you. With the added noise it's hard to get smooth like the OC-2.

The Subterranea get SUPER low. Like turn your gain you might blow a speaker low. I'm really loving this thing with Fuzz and Envelope filters. It really makes them grind and sound LOW.

While playing with the Subterranea I kept having flash backs of my Pigtronix Mothership. I almost consider the Sub a stripped down version of the Mothership. While the Mothership has a smooth warm octave(IMO) and more adjustability as far as tunings go, the Sub is much easier to use and a third the size! I feel the Sub just has more grind and character to it, it also tracks better!! Both have independent volume controls for each voicing, which is really the key to both these pedals.

As stated earlier, if you are looking for smooth octave than keep looking. If you want synthy goodness than this is a keeper! While I loved the Mothership for my synth sounds, the Subterranea is wayyy smaller, 9v, and overall more useful IMO. Compared to the OC-2 for me...it's no contest. While I think the OC-2 is THE octave sound, between the volume drop and the somewhat limited tone selection( who uses 2 octave down anyway??) the Subterranea is a winner for me. Much more flexible and LOUD!

My thoughts exactly.
