Iron Ether Subterranea

Got mine today and have been playing with it a bit.

First impression is that there a bunch of cool sounds in here. Really digging the square wave unisynth with a little dry mixed in. The octave in here is pretty sweet. Sounds very oc-2ish.

The only negative is that the pedal is a little noisy. With all the volume down, I can still hear some oscillator coming through and it is hissy. It gets in the way a little bit when only using the octave and dry. It's not very loud and totally masked when using the unisynth or octosynth. I'm curious if anyone else is getting this noise.

Overall the pedal is really cool. It is essentially what I was hoping the Moog FreqBox would do. I'm looking forward to messing with it some more!

It's here! Won't be able to try it out until tomorrow unfortunately. Anyone else receive theirs?
huh. so you live in san francisco Mssr. Bass Man Parts. huuuuuhhh.

what PART?

if you get knocked over by a tallish chubby white boy and your house ransacked but only a Sub Sub pedal stolen..... tooooootally won't be me.

f'realz.

ahhhmmm, me neither.

Actually, I'm just going to forgetaboutit until it shows up... really, who am I kidding... I'll be listening to Marc's demos and drool in my sleep dreaming about synthy goodness.

Mine is due on Monday, as well. I'm hoping to have some pretty comprehensive demos done by Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.

I really want this pedal to make me stop thinking about buying a Sub Phatty. So, my goal is to get it to sound as "real world" as possible. Both as a standalone octaver and as the first step in a modular synth chain. I love going over the top sometimes, and IE pedals always have that ability. However I think I can legitamately sound like a synth with lower resonance and more subdued sounds. I can get 90% of the way there with an oc2, fuzz pedal and xerograph. Based on Taylor's demos, I think this is gonna do it.

The guitar player in my new industrial dub band showed up last week with a sub phatty... it's a pretty killer synth. If the sub-t gets me in the ball park, i'm cream'n!

Mine is rather noisy as well. Even when the synths are turned all the way down, it's kinda hissy. Besides that, it seems like a great pedal with lots of promising sounds to discover. My amp's currently in the shop, do I've only been able to play it through the headphone amp in my enabler.

Don't expect it to. I've had my Sub Phatty for about 4 months and I still can't believe the sounds I'm getting out of it. It really is the end all of analog bass-focused synths. It sounds beefier than the Minitaur, has more character than the Little Phatty and absolutely destroys the Mini-Brute. I'll never get rid of mine. In my opinion, any TB'r that craves that fat synthy bass would be better off get a Sub Phatty rather than trying to get there with an arsenal of pedals. Having said that, I'm anxiously awaiting my IE Subterranea. I'm just acknowledging that it's a totally different device than a full featured analog keyboard synth, especially one bearing the name of Mr. Moog (all hail!). Taylor is doing a great job, IMO, of making a name for himself by making great sounding pedals that still allow a bass player to behave sonically as a bass player.

I don't think anyone thinks that you can achieve Moog synth sounds with bass pedals. I'm looking for something different that can fill the same role. My keyboard skills are good, but I can't get quite as funky as I can on bass. Not to mention ghost notes, tremolo plucking, slap, etc.. which just arent possible on keys. I've been able to get close enough to avoid the extra $1000 purchase so far. My hopes are that the SubT fills that little nagging waveform problem...

Mine is due any minute. I'll be able to give it a short run through and maybe have time to give some initial thoughts today. Hopefully I'll have a bunch of clips and a vid up before the end of the week.

Ok so this really is a seriously sweet pedal. Tons of variety with the two different synths and the octaver. I'm digging the unisynth on the square wave setting with some clean signal added in and a touch of the octave.

Also, the aforementioned hisses and noises really aren't that bad. They aren't noticeable when you're using the synths and they can actually lead to some cool drone-like effects when mixed with delay or a phaser or something like that.

That's what I like to hear.
I am hoping that mine is waiting on me right now. I am so ready to ditch work.

Im just gonna leave this right here and I'll be back in a bit...
