Is everyone okay??

I can't complain much. I have a lot of things many people don't, both material and not. Whenever I feel like complaining i spare a thought for others in far worse situations, and quieten down.

I'm okay and I need to remember how blessed I am to be in good health, have a well-paying job, own my own home, have my own car, be in a happy committed relationship, have a supportive family, own a bunch of fancy music equipment and have the opportunity to regularly use it. Other people right now not THAT far from me are having their homes/families/pets blown up. I'm okay.

Including everything that’s been said above! ^ ^ ^!

However, I have a observation. There’s always been a certain amount of rant on TB. I believe a lot people were already pre-cantankerous. I also believe that due to Covid, it caused a lot of increase of participation on most social media sites due to the lockdown. Just like in population demographics. More people means more rants. IMO.

There are all sorts of miscommunications here, and it seems not to matter how carefully you say things as an OP, there will be someone who reads all sorts of stuff into it that was never said and comes up with something weird that you then have to explain. I tend to limit the number of threads I start for this reason.

But yes, sometimes people post and just want their own opinions affirmed, or will find 1000 reasons to reject the 1000 bits of advice they've solicited for a problem they claim to want to solve. I can't wrap my head around those sorts of posts, so I just try not to get in too deep.

Best bit of advice I can offer you is that if a thread is going south for those reasons and you find yourself tempted to respond, put the OP on ignore and that thread will not come up in any of your search results (except for watched threads, I think). You can do what I do and prune your ignore list periodically to let everyone out of jail except known repeat offenders. Makes the experience here a little less weird.
I agreee, and there’s people adding fuel to the fire, but also adding that 50% of texts are often misunderstood, however when the majority disagrees (or partially) and the responses are partially caps lock, it becomes pretty clear.

I actually find this forum to be better than many of the others which I used to frequent. The complaining is generally benign, or in good humor, or topical.
I mean... Come on...
We're bass players.
We are the groove.
We aren't generally out to be jarring or obnoxious... And if we are... It's probably a knee jerk reaction.
I have found most are willing to hear both sides of an argument... And at least ponder the other viewpoint.
You don't have to agree... But it usually ends with the understanding that people are different, and we don't need to agree.

Unless you hate Fender... Like I do.
...Then I am apparently a terrible bass player who knows nothing and kills kittens in front of small children...
And I laugh maniacally.

Hey, man. I love Fender. But I also know nothing. :D

I’m pretty damn good. I’m 8 months sober, my Crohns has been in remission for almost 5 years. Despite losing my left pointer finger a few years ago, my playing has really gotten better in these past few months.

I put on 25lbs since the winter holidays but I can take that off, maybe not in time for speedo season though.

Hey man, this skinny lil funk will take them pounds off your hands! Haha. I wish it was that easy.

I have seen a missing word or an ill-timed Spell-check :sour: can cause issues too. Argh! I find I have to re-review my more lengthier posts to make sure I haven’t missed something.
