+1. Everything is relative. They aren't the finest burgers ever crafted, but they're exceptional among fast food eateries. They offer good, fresh food at fair prices in clean dining areas by friendly and professional employees who are paid fairly.they are good when compared to the rest of the fast food crowd. There are many local casual burger grills around these parts that are superior. Most backyard burgers are better too. I like that they cut their own potatoes fresh in store, though. I also like that starting pay is $10/hr- a very fair wage for fast food work.

Most of those adjectives seem out of place when describing the competition, no?
I had a "Korean style" burger (yes, really) in NY once with teriyaki sauce - it was very good.I like to mix hoisin sauce in with my burger meat.

bassybill, will you PLEASE try to stay on topic! We're not supposed to be talking about super-delicious homemade burgers in this thread! Got me droolin' all over the keyboard and everything...This thread inspired me to make my own burgers for the very first time today - cooked for me, my Dad and his lady. Here's what I did.
For the patties:
2lbs ground Aberdeen Angus lean beef
1 onion, finely chopped
½ teaspoon ground coriander
½ teaspoon paprika powder
4 cloves freshly crushed garlic
Teaspoon English mustard powder
Fresh ground black pepper
Celery salt
2 handfuls fresh bread crumbs
2 eggs lightly beaten
1 beef stock cube, 1 teaspoon Marmite, squirt of tomato concentrate and splash of Worcestershire sauce, all dissolved in ½ cup of water.
I mixed this lot really well and let the mixture stand in the fridge to bind together for a hour or so before making 4 pretty huge patties (and had enough mixture left over to make another one later). I cooked these patties until they were what I'd call well done, then assembled the burgers as follows:
Bottom of bun (very lightly toasted both sides)
Grilled onion
Iceberg lettuce - crispy!
Sliced vine tomato
Mushrooms, well fried in butter
MEAT
Melted English extra mature cheddar
Top of bun (again, lightly toasted both sides)
All served with home cut fries, pickled gherkins and the rest of the salad (with a French dressing) on the side. I'll let you imagine how it tasted.
Thank you TB for yet again contributing to my quality of life so positively.![]()
Matticus - your opinion of 5 Guys pretty much mirrors mine. Overall not as good as In n Out but better fries and way overpriced.

I never cared much for in and out. Always seemed rather bland and boring to me. I prefer Fatburger by far over any other chain I have tried thus far.
