Is it really back?

It's obviously the success of the Squier models (based on the amount of positive chatter on TB) that prompted them to restart the Fender-badged version.

The Squiers never quite did it for me. I'm sure they're great instruments, and I'm a fan of the P-J pickup configuration, but they just don't look like Jaguars to me. For me a Jaguar is partly defined by the body shape but equally by the chrome panels and head-scrathing number of controls. That may be exactly what others don't want from a bass, but that's the thing that inexplicably draws me to it.

Out of about 8 Fenders that I've owned (MIA, MIM, a 70s P, an 80s Mustang), the Jaguar is the only one I really liked and kept. If they start showing pictures of the cobalt blue one, I fear I'm going going to develop a bad case of gas, for another bass that I really don't need. Blue w racing stripes would be quite awesome.

I can get a new bass as soon as all our loans are paid off - should be about two years. I might have to sell some belongings, vital organs, children etc to speed the process up...

Well, realistically, you can do fine with just one kidney. Put the other one up on craigslist. Don't forget to list your blood type, and the local grocery store parking lot where you can meet the buyer. No returns, of course.

Hmm... It just says 'Cobalt Blue' while Fender lists 'Cobalt Blue Transparent' (Color code 62) on their color charts... I wonder if it's going to be transparent... The transparent will look rather hot, I think.

Here's the example pic of CBT that Fender has on their site -

It was called the Bass VI, and I agree they should bring it back.
You can always build one through Warmoth. The parts list was kinda wild though.

I think I'd better keep both. My brother-in-law has had to donate one of his to my niece, so I know that having a spare can come in handy. :)

I saw that pic yesterday and wondered if they'd do a transparent finish when all other versions are solid. Either way, I like the colour. And it makes me think that if the stock guard doesn't look great, a black one might. Or white pearloid. But for some reason, when I think pearl, I start thinking of replacing all the chrome with gold, and that's just silly. :hmm:

They did crimson red transparent as an offering on the Squier VM Jag Specials, so maybe they will. I think a mint guard on the blue could look good. CBT is one of the few colors I think gold hardware would mesh with, aesthetically, but otherwise I'm not a fan of the gold.

Me neither, normally, but I think back to my first electric guitar, a Yamaha 12-string. Sunburst with a pearloid guard and gold hardware - sweeter. I bought that version because the shop didn't have the even sweeter transparent blue in stock. It realy was a beautiful combination.

Mind you, I'm a lot older and wiser now and my tastes have changed. Plus, could you imagine a Jaguar with all those panels in gold instead of chrome?
