That's true, you can't. Because sunblock was invented a long time ago.
I put some on three times that day. But sweating and pouring at least 6 bottles of water on my head throughout the day didn't help anything. Its was prolly 105 or more on that black top, coupled with a few thousand people who didn't help anything cool down. The shows kicked all kinds of major ass all day though.
it was 99 in KCMO yesterday, 95 today.. meh.. as long as it's not over 100, I rarely complain. Last year, I spent the whole summer, one of the most brutal on record, with no a/c on the 6th floor. we had 15 + days of over 100 degrees. That's like 42 in Canadian.
So if you had surgery, you'd refuse painkillers because you'd be in pain once they wore off?

Typically, DC summer is like living inside the mouth of a giant dog. Right now, it's 84 degrees with a dew point of 75 at 9:30 PM; tomorrow, it will actually start getting hot...like triple digits. I may have to break down and put the window units in, although we usually try to hold out until July 4th. It's an old house, so it's designed to stay cool, and we'll usually tough it out for a few hot days if it's going to get cooler soon after. Still, I work at home, in the hottest room of the house. Eventually, we'll cry Uncle.
I just acquired a temporary job working in a building that is A). not air conditioned, and B). is required to keep all windows and doors shut for security purposes. Ontario is sticky in the summer, and I looked like I had stood in a carwash. All day.
I'm always amazed at how folks can be comfortable (or at least functional) in the heat, and by heat, I mean anything over 25 C or 80 F. I guess I have thick blood or something, but I'd be pretty happy if the temp never went over about 50 F.

I hear ya. I prefer October weather, year round. Layers ok but the option to un-layer if necessary....you know...cool but not cold.

You're in Ontario, it can't be that bad. Come down to central Texas and try living without AC.
It's broken 100F almost every day for the past couple weeks and it's probably gonna be in the hundred-teens by mid-July with 50%+ humidity.

I work in rooms thay are filled with computers, and they are kept very cool. Like low 60s no humidity air blowing on you all day long. Even in July/August I always wear long sleeves and pants to work, because I wouldn't be able to feel my hands and feet by the end or the day if I had on shorts and short sleeves. Sometimes I get in my hot car at the end of the day and say "ahhhhhh"
No, it doesn't compare to Texas. I grew up in the prairies, though, and have always preferred cooler, drier weather.
I worked as a foot courier my first winter in Ontario (Toronto), and never wore a coat. I thought it was awesome. I did get me some odd looks, though.

In February all the guys in TX are like "Man, I'm glad I don't live up there with all the cold, and the ice and snow". And I always tell them, I'm happy I don't live in TX come summer time.
Up here, it's too damn cold for about 6 weeks in the winter, and it's too damn hot for about 6 weeks in the summer. I can deal with that.
Over here in the suburbs of ATL, its been in the 90s and thankfully not humid.
I can deal with hot and dry but as others have stated, hot and humid = HELL!
