I'm not aware of all this soap opera between these great bass players but most of Jeff's points of view are valid, well constructed, necessary and thought provoking, IMHO.
It's always good to improve as a person (we're all flawed, after all) but, in this case, as someone unaware of many chapters of this soap opera, I'm not sure if he should apologise for defending his beliefs...
It’s not really about defending his beliefs. He is a passionate advocate for learning to read music and practicing by playing music, but nobody argues that’s an invalid way to learn. He has gotten himself in trouble for saying it’s the ONLY way to learn, and attacking anyone who suggests there is value in courses that focus on groove, or technique, or anything that he believes should be self-taught or self-evident. He invariably used Victor Wooten, Steve Bailey, etc. as negative examples for teaching what he considers non-musical concepts, and that’s where he (repeatedly) crossed a line.
