I think that this bass is a big step backwards compared to the previous Joe Dart models. Let me explain. The original Joe Dart model had a single volume control and no tone control. It was great to see Music Man stick it to the Capacitor Consortium, but I had a hunch that they were in the pocket of the Potentiometer Patriarchy.... looks like I was right. Now, we saw some major progress with the short scale Joe Dart. Moving from a single control to no controls makes sense and is forward thinking. But with these new model, we're left with major control clutter. Seriously! How am I supposed to know what the heck all of this stuff does!? Do you know what would have been progress? NEGATIVE KNOBS! It's the only logical progression. 1 knob -> 0 knobs -> -1 knobs. Think about it.
They could remove the output jack, or one of the strings!Probably on ebay, Reverb, AliExpress, or somewhere like that. As someone already said, they're copies of old RCA knobs, probably find them for a couple of bucks each.
Here you go, just Googled them, $1.85 each, they come in black and a sort of plum color too. (amplifierparts.com)

Well then I must be doing something wrong because not all my electric basses sound the same....just like every other stringed instrument ever created.

We're not all orchestra players, for crud's sake. Jamerson used his tone knob, so that's good enough endorsement for me. You do you.

And they both have the same number of posts.Haha. Your link is a thread posted 14 minutes after this thread.
I'm surprised a mod didn't combine them. That's usually the case for closely posted, similar threads. Oh well. The new Joe Dart has 2 pickups. Poetic that it would have 2 concurrent threads...lol.And they both have the same number of posts.
Well this one has one more now.

Ah, I dig it. Sorry. Inflection is everything. Also I have COVID brain. No lie.Missing the point entirely, which is the inference in the sales blurb that controlling tone through technique is somehow special, unique or revolutionary to the Dart basses or even a special talent of JD himself, not that the tone control has no purpose - of course it does. My personal view is that removing tone control is plain daft, but there are only 23/100 left so it must have some appeal...

Perhaps, but it's probably not that simple. Especially given the last 2 years with the covid restrictions limiting the amount of instruments that they can produce. They could lower there prices in an effort to sell a higher volume but then they'd have to likely make pretty significant investments into their production facility as well as hire more people. I'm not sure if there are still restrictions in California but from what I had heard, through much of the pandemic companies in California were struggling to produce up to regular capacity due to restrictions to the number of staff and having to distance them.

for those of you complaining about the price, just make your own. I did. And to my own specs. and its not a one trick pony.

The Joe Dart and the Dark Ray, etc. aren’t doing that - those are simply small variations of StringRays. They need things like the Caprice that are priced right and also some premium models that give players real choices and also offer something different to get customers to buy more than one.
Yeah, but you haven't included the Limited Edition Numbered Neck Plate and Certificate Signed by Joe Dart.for those of you complaining about the price, just make your own. I did. And to my own specs. and its not a one trick pony.
