I thought Warwick was only going to ship them on a custom order basis, but apparently a couple high end stores have gotten some Hellborg stuff. Haven't heard about Bass Central getting one yet, but when they do I will be down there to try it out!

Tried one of these puppy's out in the store yesterday and was blown away by it... Then had it lent out to me for a gig last night where I just used the preamp with my Eden 1250.
Im in a band that is reasonably loud with huge variences in frequencies - 7pce Brazilian band (2 Guitars, Keys, Drums, 2 Percussionists with Suedo, Congas, Shakers and a heap of handheld percussion, 4 of them sing and me) and then for a few tunes we had another 7 or 8 piece Brazilian drumming (batacuda) group on stage with us.. This thing just sat perfectly in the mix.. compared to what my Eden has in the past.
Creamy, Phat, perfectly balanced and clean. It took me 30seconds of playing it through my rig at gig volume to fall in love with this thing. Really responsive to my touch in terms of the different styles that we play.. from the bassy Dubby and Samba tones to Funk to Rock and even when I was playing slap lines, it still held the bottom end very well. Barely used the EQ as well, just sound great flat and then even better with a hint of Bass and low mids.

My soundie was even more in love with it than I was. He was told to turn me down in the mix because I was shaking the building at one point, this is a building over 2 levels with 6 or 7 bars with 2 other DJ's going on hahah
Then in the next breath told me to sell my SVT DI because it was now useless compared to the tone out the Hellborg.. We'd been running 2 DI's or the SVT or a custom made high end DI and a Mic.
His last comment was out of all the stuff he's heard.. Its going to be the hardest bass tone to beat for him.

I mean for whats available to me in terms of brands - Eden, Markbass, Aguilar, Warwick, SWR, Mesa, Ampeg, Trace and from what Ive tried which is basically every single item of those brands apart from a DB750.. its the best thing that Ive found yet and I dont mind laying down the coin for it.

Really bad photos off a Digital Video Cam..

Just for those who didn't catch the previous Hellborg thread, the list price on the preamp alone is $3,499 USD.

One of the selling points of the Hellborg is that some design elements were taken from Neve recording channels. FWIW there are a lot of companies making clones of vintage Neve designs, and some of them are cheaper. I'm not knocking the Hellborg at all, I'd love to have one myself- just saying it's not the only device around with similar design ideas. It's just the first one marketed to bass players. :)

Well I certainly heard the Neve influence. This is a truly beautiful sounding preamp. Ok it's not cheap, but you can instantly hear why......

Pardon my ignorance, but can't you get a more fully featured neve for less than that?
