There were a number of stunned people on stage tonight...shared my rig as backline, and once the festivities were done, the other band was all up in my grill about the amp, speakers and sound. People in the crowd noticed too.

Nice. I am enjoying having people come up and compliment my bass sound at breaks or close, with my 66 fEARful. My band guys are bragging for me that I built the cab. One of em said I designed and built it! Had to quash that. With the Monique I might never be able to get to the bar for another beer at breaks though. Too many questions:D

The guy playing bass after us knows my rig, and has played it since I only had one fEARful and used my LMII to power it. He was the guy who came to me a few weeks after a gig and told me that he'd been losing sleep from thinking about that bass tone and how it was his 'dream sound'. Then last night he walked off stage and by me saying 'that amp...its unbelievable...so awesome..." Their new guitarist just back from the west coast stopped mid song to come over to the side of the stage and tell me "that bass amp you have is SOMETHING"...and later told me that he'd never heard a bass amp that nice.

I see this rig and the word 'Slammin' just pops into my head.

BTW, looks like you need to update your 'Current Setup:' in your profile.

I hate to gush, but I did a full volume rehearsal tonight with a band i am reviving that plays some heavier stuff (Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam) and cool stuff like Sublime, Bob Marley and the usual bar favorites like Stones, Free, Zz Top, etc. Actually a really cool band with a great drummer and guitarist.

After the first song, the guitarist looked at me in shock me and asked "*** amp are you using?" he was amazed how I got that tubey, grindy tone but with such clear articulation on my arpeggios. He is a 53 year old dude that has toured/gigged since he was in his late teens.... He has played with lots of bassists.... He said it was the best bass tone he has ever heard (Modulus Q5 -> Monique -> Mesa M9 Power amp only -> Sadowsky SA410).

In any case, best rehearsal I have ever had with this band. Can't give Monique full credit, but the sound I was getting made me happy and more into it than normal.

Love it! Thanks Jule!

And thanks to y'all. There is some very good stuff going on here. Spent a great afternoon and dinner with another "wandering" Monique dude and his lady today.

It is a pleasure.

Jule,
Thanks again for the Santa Cruz tour and, of course, the very pleasant company! We will see you in a couple hours for the shop tour and then it will be time to go home to "Monique".

You're so welcome. Thank you!
It's enough that you can play the Monique!!

I have to thank Fretless5er. His unbiased review really got my interest.

Monique truly exceeds expectations.

Thank you, Jule!

Im jealous a little guys. My band has been on break all summer for a variety of reasons and as such, i have had nothing but solo time with the mo i got in july. I seriously need to give her a spin in the mix!!

Hey skies, i may be copying your peavey setup. I need more juice than the walkabout i normally use and those pv power amps seem like they are about the best bang for the buck. Hope you dont mind :D

Be my guest... Just got home from giving it a workout. :)

I am considering ordering a new rackmount version of Monique from Jule's website, and I have a question about the tubes that come with it. This might be a question for Jule to answer, but I'm open to replies from anyone with a Monique.

I seem to recall reading in this thread about some past issues with the tubes that were shipping with the Monique. Did Jule finally work those issues out and settle on which tubes to ship with the Monique? Did that resolve the tube issues? And what tubes are being shipped with Monique nowadays, if I might ask?

Thanks!

You are close enough that you might want to come on by and give Monique a play. The burritos are good. I'll buy.

Yes, the obnoxious tubes have been identified and removed from our lives. I have a row of the evil doers on a shelf near my test bench. They stare down at me. I think I'm keeping them to make sure I remember how rough it can get.

Currently we are shipping with Tung Sol 6SL7's, Shuguang 12AU7, EH EZ81.

All those bad tubes were from a single run out of the Shuguang factory. The especially nasty bit was that they all checked great in the shop. The trouble showed up only after being bounced around in transit. The problem ended up being poor (contaminated) solder connections inside the pins of the tubes.
