I'm not either of them, but I bought single padding. If I had it to do over again, I'd do double padding. It is ok as it is, but you can never have too much protection.

So I just tried pairing Monique with my crest prolite 2.0. There is a difference when using the crest as opposed to the Puma 900 power section.

I think they were both equally as clear and held transients well. Btw, they are both rated at the same voltage (.775). It should Also be noted that I used the Crest in bridge mode with a speaker load of 4 ohms (4 ohms for the Puma as well). Obviously be careful with the crest in bridge mode at 4 ohms, I believe it delivers 1960 watts! You don't want to blow up your cabs. They are both Class D power as well.

The difference between the two that I noticed was that the Crest had much more girth, thickness, and I can feel my rig pushing more air. The Puma 900 power section seemed a little thinner in the bottom end.

For me, I probably would still use the Puma 900 as my power section 99 percent of the time since all my gigs have PA support and are mostly wedding/corporate gigs. But I think for the outdoor gigs I would like to use the crest.

Tonite I'm playing a club outdoors on the water so I am going to try both setups in this setting to see how they fair.

Also I would note if you are interested in the crest and need a lot of power, you may want to opt for the 3.0 unless you run your rig at 2 ohms. I noticed the limiter on the amp kicking in at 4 ohms. I was playing pretty loud and would never play that loud, but probably wasn't playing as loud as some of you that have rock gigs. But I have to say when the limiter kicked in, the compression circuit didn't sound that bad. But there is a fine line between the limiter kicking in and distortion.

I'll report back tomorrow after my experience tonight.

I find that the 2.0 is more than enough for me even if I am running a 410 and 2 210's (All Bergantino).

Depending on the gig of course, but I find the 2.0 to be crazy loud for all rooms/outdoor gigs I play.

Great inexpensive poweramp in any case....

Haha! Lol! My house was rattling! As I said I would NEVER come close to playing that loud. But I see some pics of some crazy huge rigs here on TB so I figure there is some sick Decibels being achieved here.

For a geezer like me, the 2.0 is way than I need, in fact it's overkill. But it does produce nice bottom end.

And yes, I agree, for the price, you can't beat it! It is built pretty solid.

These are single padded. Seem pretty robust, but I agree that more in this case can be a good thing.

I want to thank this community of players for helping recover a stolen Monique (not the one in this picture). The Bamboo Monique stolen earlier this month has been returned to the customer in perfect condition.

It was recovered by alternate confidential methods after traditional methods proved ineffective.

The IPR is a bit heftier than the Crest in the horsepower. I run the two channels bridged to 4ohms for a 'theoretical' 3000w peak, although its probably closer to a useable ~2200w (rms-ish) or so with US wall voltage. Not really a problem with my cab setup (double fEARful 15's) and running the fdeck HPF3 with it. I get more than enough clean headroom for what I want. My Monique is one of the early ones, one of the original batch of rack pre-orders that Jule built, so it doesn't have a pull on the output and it may have a couple other slight differences (I did send it back to him for a tweak or two a couple days after I got it).

Of course, it sounds better than most on account of the vintage green light.

Has anyone written a comparison of a Monique vs either a Tone Hammer 500 or maybe a DB750/751?

I really liked my old 750 but it became too much for me to carry and I shifter to the TH500.

To be honest it suits me for most gigging situations but it feels, from everything I've read, that Monique would be a significant upgrade.

Very difficult for me to compare directly in person so I just wondered if anyone else had some first hand knowledge?
