Jule Amps Monique part 4

Some power amps, like my XLS 1000 won't let you take a channel1 input and send it to outputs 1 & 2, so you'd need to get a Y split for the 1/4 out from Monique which can go into inputs 1 & 2 on the power amp. Then input 1 goes to output 1, and input 2 goes to output 2. The XLS would then allow for biamping with a crossover and high pass and low pass filter per output.

It sure does. Select the Input Y mode.

I thought it should but I couldn't find the setting in the manual. I don't have the amp or manual at hand. Now that you mention it, I seem to remember the Y mode forcing you to select a crossover, but not allowing you to go channel 1 in and Y it out to two full requency range outs via channels 1 & 2. Does that sound right, or does my memory suck?

I don't have my amp at hand either to try it. If I remember correctly (it been a while since I played with the configuration) you should be able to just select the Y mode. And yes that is not in the manual.

Some power amps have a selector switch that allows you to select between stereo, bridge, & parallel mode. Parallel mode is what you would want. It sends the input signal to both channels of the power amp.
Other power amps need a patch cable (I thinks the Peavey IPR series has this) to configure parallel mode, while others (such as QSC) have a series of dip switches to set the mode.

I suppose you could also use a Y cable as well.

Back to my original question. Can channel 1 do 8 ohms and channel 2 do 4 ohms if you want to use the amp in that configuration? Or do both channels have to have the same ohm impedance? Moo?

I'm internetting from my phone, so the link is appreciated. The XLS doesn't have a Y mode, only a crossover mode where you must pick a crossover point. So with that power amp, you can't go one signal in and two signals out; you'd need a Y splitter to get two ins to use two outs.

As for other power amps, I'm guessing it could vary by brand and model, so I'd say to RTFM for each amp being considered.

Also not sure if some power amps would allow for odd impedance matches, like an 8 ohm and a 4 ohm cab. However I'd assume as long as your amp could handle a combined impedance number low enough it wouldn't care. I believe an 8 and a 4 gets you an odd combined number of ohms (don't know that math). Of course a stereo amp might be different in an non-bridged mode, but I'm now out of my depth.

With my QSC PLX3002, I can run any impedance, down to 2 Ohms, in each channel; the two channels can be quite different, e.g., 8 Ohms on one channel, and 2 or 4 Ohms in the other.

Keep in mind that the rules change dramatically when bridging.

The Crown does have a Y-Mode. Sometimes not everything a product can do is explained in a manual - see Peavey IPR which can be bridged.

Edit:
Most power amps will allow running both channel at different impendances. Actually I am not aware of a single amp where that is not possible.

As I won't see my amp for another 2 weeks, my answer may be wrong. Anyway if I remember correctly. You set it exactly like the crossover mode. Just don't do the steps for the crossover.

No sir. But if it helps any, I AM playing Monique thru 1 or 2 AE210's though.

Sounds just amazing with the AE Bergs. I sold (and currently selling) off all of my other cabs as they are just perfect for all of my needs.

I have 2 poweramps I run with Monique (not both at once).... A Crest ProLite 2.0 and Crown XLS2000. Both sound great and are crazy loud but if I had to pick one it would likely be the Crown.

I'm looking to run a Monique thru an AE210 as well. If I could find another easily then I'd consider using two for larger gigs.

Haven't been able to hear Monique through the AE210 but I have a feeling it'll work really well :)

I can't find any specs on the AE210. Can anyone direct me? My suspicion is that it is similar to the other great Bergantino gear, but I can't find a way to confirm.
