I love this setup - it might be a little on the darker side (vs my Puma) but it has a warmth and richness to it thats amazing. I love hearing chords thru this rig - sounds like nothing I ever played before. For most gigs (in town) I just use a AE112, but on the road the AE212 gets to come out

It looks like Jim took it off his website, but here are the specs on e vertical..... Similar to the horizontal/original with a bit different voicing...

Revised for 2011 the new vertically oriented AE210 now has a smoother mid-range response that before, and has a surprisingly big sound which is in part due to the large rear porting. Like all Bergantino cabinets, the sound is well balanced and clear across the frequency range. The highs are clear and transparent but never course, the mids are present and punchy but not overpowering, and the the lows are full but not boomy. A punchy yet warm cab with surprising output.
A compact, lightweight, punchy cab with a big sound.

•2 x 10" Custom Neodymium Driver with 7oz magnet and vented pole pieces

I ran these for a few years. I put extra feet on and used them vertically. Jim redesigned for that use on the second revision. Nice cab form factor - one hand carry and very shallow front to back. A little edgy in the upper mids when pushed. A pair of them would get stupid loud. I find the Baer ML112 to have sweeter mids/upper mids and a different low end (not quite as tight as the 210 setup).

I have a question for all the Monique owners....when you want overdrive how are you getting it/what are you using? When I say overdrive I don't mean full on distortion, I'm thinking vintage Geezer Butler Pbass through an SVT overdrive sound. Well, I guess it doesn't matter, that's what I'm thinking, but what are you thinking as far as overdrive and how do you get there with your Monique?

Pedals. For the Geezer through an SVT tone, I really like the Z.Vex Basstortion. My favorite overall overdrive pedal right now, though, is the Amptweaker Bass TightDrive (or the Bas TightFuzz, if you prefer a fuzz-style effect). Overdrive/distortion/effect pedals are a very subjective affair, though, and everyone has their own personal preferences.

That's cool Tom. So I assume the Basstortion doesn't suck the low end out of your sound like so many other of these type of pedals? With the Agro as Todd mentioned the best I've heard personally, no low end sucking there!

Lately I have been pulling the line out and running it at 5oclock and driving it hard into the poweramp. It has been giving me a grit tone that is comparable to my B3k. I am also running a active HAZ 9v in my Spectors that adds to the growl. Note: I cannot max out the line out knob due to it becoming too distorted but there is a sweet spot between 4 and 6 oclock.

SansAmp Programmable Bass Driver DI currently but I am not happy with it for all distortion applications.

For root playing, it is great (think Living After Midnight by Judas Priest). But for anything else that requires mids and highs to really cut thru, forget it.

I hear great things about the Darkglass Vintage Microtubes and B3K/B7K, but I have never tried either.

Has anyone played their Monique ( + Minnie ) trough Audiokinesis Thunderchild cabs ?

My Monique is about to be shipped in a few days and my only cab at the moment is the TC115, which is a wonderful cab. Just wondering if someone is playing the same rig. How do they match ?
If I remember correctly, the user Nomatic has used this setup..?

Cranking that sensitivity.
Experiment with pulling or not pulling it out. You may get the grind without overdriving the amp.
YMMV sometimes I like it where if I dig in it grinds but stays clean otherwise.
Recently I've been digging the sensitivity all the way down for the big fat clean. Since the controls are so musical just a little sensitivity can bring just that titch of spice.

I've played a Monique into a Puma 900 into a Thunderchild 115 on a number of occasions using my Foderas as well as a Lakland 55-60. IMO and that of many experienced musicians and engineers who've heard that combo is that it's a great matchup. Smooth, punchy, full, round with great clarity across the fretboard. And just for full disclosure, I don't own a Monique. I swap/share equipment with a good friend/bassist of mine. But I do intend to get a Monique of my own at some point in the not too distant future.

The Basstortion keeps most of the lows in there. It's pretty full.

The Amptweaker pedals are really the bomb, though, because they have a "Dry Low" blend which allows you to bring in a clean, low-passed signal, which let's you tweak the overdrive (or fuzz) to get the best tone, and then bring in the low end to your liking.
