If your Monique 700 or 2500 amplifier or any other Class D amplifier is stored very cold, (Like in the back of a van in Buffalo in the Winter ;)) you need to be careful that moisture is not condensing on it before you turn it on. A very wise customer contacted me when he realized that water droplets were forming on his amp. "Is it OK to turn on?." NO.

Don't turn any electronic gear on if water is condensing on it. Warm it up slowly, maybe a fan to speed the process up, before powering up.

Well...that's a long story. Jule knew from the start I liked the 'white' variant he did for a custom order. He may have a few of these faceplates stashed for future use, and anyone would want to talk to him about it and pricing involved.

But lets just say that mine's a 'sheep in wolf's clothing' Monique. ;) because this is a faceplate retrofit for my standard Monique rack, and thus a one-off. There is in fact no power amp unit in it. Instead I've got my standard Mo' hidden behind it and Jule kindly wired up the second switch and LEDs...So I effectively have a Monique with a "Producer Switch" on it. I'll use it every time a sound man asks me to turn down a bit.

These white Monique 700 faceplates are kinda cool. Initially I didn't think much of the idea (my Daughter did Emo long ago. I think she warped me.) but they have been nicely received. I have a batch on the shelf. No add-on cost. When these are gone I will have to decide whether more will be made.

In a world of black and silver boxes...the white box stands out. To me it looks like it could fit in perfectly in the studio or in the O.R. at Mass General. I can say with the number of stages I've got lined up for the near future, there's gonna be some questions from the crowd.

I would love to have Monique 700 done like that, but that would mean I would have to ship her off. :crying: Even for a few days, it would be difficult!!:rollno:;)

Also, I bet I have an early version of the 700, as the front panel has only the snowflake (I know it's not a snowflake, but I don't know what I should call it) and no analog wave graphic. It even has the 700 pasted on as plastic numbers!! It makes it kind of unique.

This is the third faceplate I've had. I had the original 'sticker' front, a later printed plate, and now this one. I believe the logos if you look at it are a bunch of intertwined "J"'s for Jule.

You know, I switched to my backup preamp, the Kern...and while it's an amazing unit, the minute I got back on stage last weekend it was instantly like being home. Just way way way better. Jule was REALLY fast...on the other hand, it took me a few weeks to pack it up and prep it for shipping and get some additional odds and ends prepared for the situation.

There aren't any white faces for the Tardis, I am sorry to say. Those original vinyl white 700 letters are pretty cool. Like raised plastic.

The idea for the Logo came from a visit (about 2001) to Central New Mexico. There, I learned of "Mimbres" pottery artifacts. Historians know the Mimbres People (We gave them that name. Nobody knows what they called themselves.) only from their art on pottery used in burial practices. I took pictures of the pottery to a Logo designer in Colorado and you all see what she came up with.

Yes. She did use J's.
