Jule Amps Monique part 5

The cab choice really defines the tone.

I'm totally digging the Nv115s, it will be interesting to see what happens in a live setting.

This Friday I'm gonna use the Jule stuff with the NVs and in a few weeks I plan on using my V4b with the NVs. Mostly because I have a serious PA at the next gig which always gives Mo the nod. The gig after that I'm carrying the house and last time used the 210AVs with the V4b

Yeah, really 'crisp'. ;) In the mid 40's once things got going! It's all good though...we've been inside and well sheltered the past few.

Might as well get a few more up and posted. This was a double bill with us supporting John Brown's Body, probably the best of the modern American roots bands.

My rig on stage for the night, with Dan's rig behind it. The JBB standard rig is 2 Berg 2x15's with a CA9 fed by a Avalon U5:

I've heard the clips. You may too by January.:) As is usual in this genre of music, the plan is chop and loop my performance. Now, Monique's tone. It's often discussed on TB the distinction between hifi and not. What I experience is hearing exactly what my bass sounds like and every inflection from thump to grind. Now include a phat warm envelope that extends the girth of the lows and sweetness to the highs.

I heard John Brown's Body some years ago. They were great live. Coincidentally, I happened to put Pressure Points in the car CD player yesterday (hadn't listened to it in some time) and have been grooving to it as I tool around. Bought it at the show -- it's the only disc I have of theirs. Do they have a different bass player now than they did then? When I saw them... committed performance, soulful, good sound. Whole band was cool, and very chill and approachable afterward. OT: I think the bassist was playing a mahogany and maple Ristola.

Yeah, they've been through a couple bass players over the years. Their original, Scott passed away, then Nate was a long time guy. Now Dan Africano is playing...he's a great player and has good tone (and is a nice guy on top of it). I like their new album, which is a return to more of a straight roots vibe. I've known their lead singer for decades...he used to be the door-guy and later booking person at the infamous Ithaca club 'The Haunt' before it moved across town. That venue was founded on reggae and bringing nearly all the greats to the stage. It was a small sweaty road-house vibe in the best sense.

Hey Todd! My faith that good music will continue is now restored. Your original Monique just came through the shop. Customer wanted it loved excessively before he continued to make music.
