Jule Amps Monique part 5

From my gig tonight...not the best pic, but those following this thread can easily spot a Mo far, far away!

My Monique Black Bamboo continues to impress, and drives every backline cleanly.

I'm a Berg cab guy at heart, but my back was bothering me, and I didn't want to deal with cabs tonight...

Jule, I know I've thanked you (and Marsha) many times for my "black box"...but thanks yet again! :thumbsup:

Had a great gig Sunday that I play every year. This was the 19th. I start playing and rarely touch a thing on Monique except volume. Often not even that. I could say things were different because I'd been in the studio or some invisible person touched my pre....but. It sounded sooooo smooth. Smoother than ever before and I have no, just no complaints about Monique tone! I looked and the mids were almost off. I know mids poltergeist snuck up on me.

I realize that everything is personal. Touch, strings, pre in bass, bass, cord (he did not just say cord) (OMG), amp, cab, location, attitude all culprits to good tone. This reduced mids was smooth. Perhaps my bass's pre does it well because the bass and treble seem to overlap. It was delish. I did raise them up to hear more yummy mids in the live mix. But I sure experienced the wonder of the dreaded scoop. While mine was very narrowly scooped, very, it sounded exceptional.

Just loving the butter of Monique.

Gotta love that Baxandall EQ...it's just about impossible to get a bad sound out of it :thumbsup:

Its not that bad. I'm just happy to not be lugging around my 810E any more.

Also the sound of this thing is massive. I started out with the line dial at about 11 O'clock.. Immediately had to turn down to 9 O'clock and I was worried about overpowering the room. EQ was flat as well.

Thanks for the kind words!

My Monique settings were Bass and Mids around 2 o'clock, Treble around 10 o'clock, Sensitivity In and around 9 o'clock, Line Level Out.

I generally keep Line Level pulled out as it drives the last tube in the chain significantly harder, resulting in more complex harmonics and a noticeably thicker tone :thumbsup:

Do you notice a hiss when line level is pulled out?

Thanks - I'll have a play and see how it sounds with my P Bass :)

I have a Demeter head as well and keep swapping between the two. Monique seems to suit my current main cab a little better though :)
