Hey folks, right now I'm using a heavy duty Pedal Train road case for my Mo 700 Tardis.
Does anyone have/use a good quality gig bag that they use for this amp?

Oh hey! I'm the proud owner of a Monique (possibly no 230 as that appears to be written inside!). It lives in this beat up pelicase. It's a sturdy home....and waterproof.

Hey Jule you've created quite the classic in this unit. It's something I've had my eye on for a while and the opportunity arose to grab one and I happened to be lucky enough to be in a position to get my hands on it. Very satisfying and it just gets better the longer you play in. Nice work Sir! I really enjoy the colouration from my Spyder 550 but there's a whole other vibe coming off this unit. Tasty!

From BC..yup. 230 mile round trip which funnily enough was the number inside but I'm more inclined to think that's the voltage rather than 'serial' number

Gigging it tonight which I've been looking forward to as I've been in work all day!

Out of interest does anyone know where the EQ points are set? It would be useful to know as our singer/guitarist does our sound so I can chime in if/when he eq's me. Plus I think it's good to have an understanding of things like this with gear...where the bumps and dips are etc in an amps voice....blah blah

We supplied this one - great piece of kit. I was tempted myself as it's more practical than my Dove Cage for gigging but the DC is just so pretty sitting next to me in my study every day that I couldn't bear to let it go

Well for me personally, I love how non-technical I can be with this amp. The full range of eq is very "musical" imho, and I just start all at noon, adjust the sensitivity knob and I'm usually 90% there. Occasionally tweak eq for the room and then I'm done. Paraphrasing here, but a certain designer has said "if it sounds good, it is good".

Cam was telling me if it's lineage. The Tardis fits my needs but the appeal of a bamboo is strong. Fortunately my budget is limited- I've sold an Aggie DB680 to fund this one and don't have any regrets.

I was trying to figure out what the "tarsus" was, here (referring to a foot bone? a different preamp?), then I realized that you meant the "Tardis" (the desktop version of the Monique amp that you have). Named after the phone-booth-shaped time-and-space machine in the old Dr. Who shows -- not sure how that name got attached to that version of the pre/amp, but congrats!

EQ points (at least for the bass control) came up some time ago in another thread. Maybe @juledude can shed some light? I recall the controls being fairly broadly voiced, for what that's worth.

I'm not so up on my alternate histories -- I had to look up the Dalek, I confess, but I remember those blokes now. They'd better hope I don't find them -- I'll give them what-for and then run bravely away.

I did not know that! Probably has something to do with "Q". Then again, I haven't really delved into comic books since the 60s/70s... Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers/ Mr. Natural/ Captain Pissgums and the Perverted Pirates and so on. Hmmm, what does that say about me???

I don't know about Q, but I'm pretty sure the Dalek were involved. I only thumbed through a few pages -- the enormity of the situation was too much for me to deal with at the time -- but I'm confident that Picard and the Doctor managed to sort out the baddies in the end.

To bring things back on topic, the TARDIS having a bit of that vintage radio look to it, I wouldn't be surprised if it employed vacuum tubes in its circuitry. Did Dr. Who ever have a companion named Monique? Is Jule using secret technology developed by the BBC? Baseless surmise suggests "yes."

I think I might see if I can track down a copy of that comic book.

Yep. And Jule and I have gone 'back and forth' by mail off and on for the past handful of years as well. I think it's a great thing. Jule knows that we're tied up personally in our chosen vocation, and our tools of the trade. He also knows that as musicians, we don't always have lots of money...so it's a sizable investment in a few ways, so it's a really nice thing that he writes an occasional personal note. Also, my wife thinks it's really sweet.

You know, for as much as my bass is a really personal thing (one of the first things I touch in the morning when I get up every day), my Monique is another thing I've come to depend upon on a daily basis. It's ease of use, dependability and quality of tone are integral to my existence. It's good to be known as a band with good stage sound, but we're also known as easy to mix by sound techs, studio engineers, etc. Mo' has no fuss or fluff to it. It's a box that sits in a rack, it doesn't have many knobs, no sliders, no ground effects, no fans whirring, no effects loops or tuner outs or mutes. Some of the techy info is less stated and instead there's emphasis on diaphanous things like 'feel' and 'tone'. Try explaining the 'Sensitivity' control to other players without getting a quizzical look. When people tell me that it doesn't make sense to have a tube rectifier in a preamp, I shrug...because it makes sense to me. I've heard it. I've heard different tubes in that socket and know that it's doing something to create feel. Either way, I'll keep using Jule's stuff and happily reaping those rewards.

But y'all know I'd say all that.

The perfect compliment to my Monique M700. FET's sound great, my Walter Woods uses em.

Real world testing has, as it often does, shown that more tweaking needs to be done. It will happen. Sisyphus was a quitter.

And Monique runnin' riddim like the dancehall queen she is with the Sagittarius Band for King Yellowman Sunday night at the Range in Ithaca last Saturday:

And a bit of vid from Grassroots a few weeks ago...after she and her power amp kicked out the stage power twice during the first song or two of our set (on our stage they were running lights, monitors half of the front end off of a single circuit! And the monitors/highpaks were powered by tube amps!)

Although I'm a Dingwall fan (PZ5) I have to say that bass is quite something. That paint job is fantastic. I can only imagine the tones you're able to coax outta it. I see many switches and 'options'. You all passive or have the option of both? My PZ5 is such a joy to play and while I never think I'll need more options that voodoo switch Shelodon prototyped a while back still has me checking it out on you tube years later!!

So I've been very intrigued to find a tube power amp to run my dove cage in a practice or low volume situation. Has anyone tried a McIntosh or similar setup?
