Jule Amps Monique part 5

If anyone is going to GV Bass Boot Camp next weekend in Reading PA. You will be able to check out Jule's great Monique pre and a DeMonique Tardis coupled with Duke's latest creation the Hathor 1203 and Mike's MAS 46 cab. Pete Skjold will be bringing a few of his latest creations .

Thanks Jule ! Your the best!

Wish I could be there (practically speaking)!

Should be one heck of a hang!

Pete used to participate in our DFW GTG's when he lived here, nice guy with nice basses!

I wish I could be there Mark. So the little Dove arrived safely?

I just received my DC back from Jule. First let me say that Jule is an absolute gentleman and is tops when it comes to customer service. More companies should be like him. Turns out that I had 2 tubes fail and a problem with the line out potentiometer.

So when I tried it out, boom there it was. That magical tone back, slap tone kicked booty. I guess this was the reason I was experiencing some difficulty before.

One odd thing I noticed is that the Minnie only seems to work with the line out pushed in. When pulling it out, the volume drops immensely. When I tried this with my crest, the volume increased as it should.

So perhaps this is a voltage matching thing with the Minnie? Can someone with the same setup try this out with their Monique Minnie? I want to make sure there is not a problem with my Minnie. Thanks!

Hi, I have a DC and Minnie. I do get an increase in volume when I pull the line level knob out.

Hmmm there must be a problem with my Minnie then. Guess I'll have to call James on Monday. Thanks for the info.

Seems like a problem with the Monique, not the Minniei. Of course, if you are using a Minnie, then there would not be any reason to use the gain boost setting on the Monique (which is there for other power amps that have lower sensitivity inputs.

Agreed about not having to pull the line out with the minnie. I was just trying it out. Monique is not the problem however. Because it works fine when I use it with my Crest power amp with the POT pushed in or pulled out. Functions as it should.

Unless you want to blow your head off and wake up the neighbours like I did last week when I plugged my 18v Fodera and Minnie into my recently upgraded/modernized Monique for the first time. Oops!:D

Lol! I think a point is being missed here. I do not run my Monique minnie with the line level pulled out. I have ran it like that with my crest in the past. I only tried it because I just received my Monique back from Jule because there was a problem when pulling the line level out. It would make a static sound and no bass tone came through. So when I tried it I thought it was odd that the level dropped when using the minnie but did not drop when using it with the crest.

Jule, spent the better part of my day with Monique doing retakes and overdubs for the new recordings, as I wasn't really happy with my takes last week and I wanted to tweak my tone. I ended up switching up my usual setup, by running my bass passive and flat and only using the EQ on the Monique...from what I'm hearing right now, it sounds fantastic. I'm looking forward to a few weeks down the line when we can share some of the tracks. Really huge, rich smooth tone that still cuts and punches.

Really nice recording tone. I ran the DI level nearly all the way up and it sounds fantastic.

That line level boosts from .775 to 1.4 when it's pulled out. That is to mate with power amps wishing to see that voltage. The Minnie may be protecting itself. A theory.

Thanks for the reply. That is what I was thinking too but another TB'er here stated his volume boosted when pulling it out with the Minnie. I'm going to call James tomorrow to confirm. I just want to make sure there isn't a problem with my Minnie.

yes, very good results.

Anyone using a Bergantino NV115 with Mo? I've been looking at sealed cab options, and I don't recall reading about this pairing here.
