...And when I used my HPF3 in between my Monique and my amp I used a TRS to a TS cord.
At the risk of sounding thick, why? Is one of the inputs on the poweramp in stereo, or is there another reason? And why with the HPF but not without?

You nailed it with your assumptions.
I think the thickness and high end of Monique are just too much for the thick voicing of the cab. I tried HPF adjustments with my XLS1000 and it didn't get me there. The lows and low mids just overwhelm the upper mids and highs. With my PH115 cab, I run the sensitivity up over noon with the dial pulled out. With the Barefaced, I'm pushing it in and rolling it way back. I'm getting too much of a good thing with my P bass.

Because my power amp is balanced in, so I can run Monique to power amp balanced in to balanced in, while the HPF3 is unbalanced in, so I run a cable that's balanced to standard unbalanced for it.
These days I run the HPF in front of the Monique rather than in between the pre and power for some other techy reasons.
If your amp has balanced in you should run balanced to balanced. Otherwise I believe you lose something like 6db at the amp.
I had no idea. Sometimes, I go into the effects return of a Demter HPB-1 800D -- figure that's unbalanced. Sometimes into a Pro-Lite 2.0. I don't know, but if your IPR is balanced, maybe the Pro Lite is, too. Will have to check up on that. ("I want my 6 dB!" he spat petulantly. "Kids these days..." muttered the cashier, "They think they're entitled to everything!")
The TRS jack as the Line Out is a legacy of one of the first group of players to accept Monique. The Bergantino IP crowd needs a three wire input. It saved them from buying a special cable, and it in no way takes away from how we use the Line Out, so a TRS jack is used.At the risk of sounding thick, why? Don't change. That is perfect.Hunh. I will have to look into this. I've been running a regular old mono (TS) cable between Mo and the amp. Appreciate the reply!
Well, gee, if I had a nickel for every time I've heard that... (Goes to look for a nickel.)Don't change. That is perfect.

NBD!!!! New bag day.
I finally got sick of constantly being asked why I was bringing a Sleep Apnea machine to gigsand Jule happened to have a Studio Slips bag lying around at his shop. Actually, the Philips Medical bag didn't quite fit Minnie AND Monique stacked.
Just received it (thanks Jule, your help is much appreciated as usual) and it is well made, super light, fits my Dovecage/Minnie perfectly and looks great.
The zipper for the Minnie compartment isn't quite as heavy duty as the one for the Monique compartment, but I think it will stand being dragged around 100+ times a year for gigs and rehersals.
As usual, dealing with Jule on anything is a great experience. Also, shipping the bag (or my 3 Jule amps) from Cali to Canada was also a dream. Any Canadians on the fence about ordering an amp from Jule in Santa Cruz shouldn't give it a second though. Dave at Clubbass sells them too. I bought my Minnie from him last year....
Plus, if you order an amp (not bag), a lifetime supply of shipping peanuts is included for free.![]()
Because you can sleep through the material? (Btw looking for a more challenging band.)![]()
In this realm, short is always better. And a standard (good quality) instrument cable is all that is required.Jules.
So you are ok with a standard instrument cable from my Puma to my Monique??...shorter the better?...any recommendations.?
Well, gee, if I had a nickel for every time I've heard that... (Goes to look for a nickel.)
This discussion has prompted me to do some reading on balanced/unbalanced signals vs. high/low impedance signals. The latter I more or less understood. The former, I did not. If you run a TS to TRS cable from an unbalanced source to a balanced input, are you splitting the signal?
Randy T (nice endorsement, btw!), while I'm not so versed in a lot of this stuff, I feel fairly confident in advocating for a short cable there. I use a 2-foot long George L's cable -- low capacitance cable with connecters you attach yourself. I have a similar, 10-foot long instrument cable. With the latter, I notice a small difference playing through it as opposed to one of my cheapie cables, but it's not huge.
