Jule Amps Monique part 5

From the website
"Monique has two outputs: Line Level output (1/4" Single Ended TRS) and a separate XLR balanced DI output that is driven by a beautiful Cinemag transformer. Both outputs have their own separate level controls. The Line Level control is also a push-pull switch. Left in, the Line Level control gives you the original Monique (0db .775volt) output. When you pull the Line Level control out you get a 4db increase in both the Line Level and the Balanced XLR outputs. That gives you up to (+4db 1.25volts) from the Line Out and (-10db .775volts) from the Balanced XLR output."

I'm guessing pulling the line level control out and sending 1.25v from Monique to match your amps 1.2v setting would be the closest? Ultimately unsure and I would say play around with all your options!

Another note, which I am unsure about, is I believe the push/pull on the line out was a feature he added later in production, and while he tries to herd all of the Monique's back in for upgrades, you may want to check that your unit may not have the switch...
Well said.

I'm in. Picked up a used dove cage here on TB. Another member I've done some trading with asked me what I thought about it. My response after one week of knob twiddling:

"Absolutely silly good! I just can't get a bad sound out of it. I have been playing it through a QSC k10 and my small Allen Heath mixer to simulate what front of house would hear. No effects. I can get layers of tube richness, or start to get some break up if I dig in. It's all different levels of goodness as you spin the dials. Subtle, yet always satisfying. I'm going to take it to play with a few different folks over the next few weeks. I can't wait to hear how it sits in the mix, and the feedback from others. I also took the bottom off to check the workmanship. Old school point-to-point craftsmanship. The chassis is solid and unflinching. The entire package oozes quality and cool."

Thanks to those of you that have posted sound clips, and your quality references. I am more excited than ever to plug in and play.
Thanks you. We better be excited about all this. It is what we do.

Been looking at the Monique for over a year now, reading the comments and online reviews. Finally able to pull the trigger, arranging the purchase of a Monique + Minnie, can't wait to spend some time with her. Been using a small solid state amp for a while so this will be quite a change I imagine.

Looking forward to trying her out with the Fbass paired with Aguilar DB112 and a EA VL210 cab.

Two friends came over today, one who had seen and heard the rig and one who had not.

The one who had seen the rig had last seen it with the former power amp. His comment was that the M700 made it look like I added a hood scoop to my hotrod. After hearing it he said I must of added pipes too :)

The second just gasped and said "what is that?"
I responded "that's my JAM! It's a Jule Amps Monique" in that second I realized two things. One was that JAM fits perfectly for Jule Amps Monique, and that I sounded like a total douche. One second after that I realized I didn't care and spent the next 15 minutes describing the rig.

That's my JAM!

I like it. Not douche-y at all!

My J.A.M. rocked it last night!

I googled Monique Minnie to show a friend of mine the combo, this is what i got

As soon as I pull up the image in walks the old lady. Promptly I get "what are you looking at" I reply "just showing Sam a pic of the bass rig" now every time I leave the room she asks if I'm headed off alone to look at more bass gear.....

I had no idea Monique Minnie was a person.

First use of Monique in the mix at Mass today. Immediately the drummer notices the difference. More definition, more beef, more authority. It sounded amazing. Thank you, Jule.

I will also say that I came home and used my old amp (which is set up in my rehearsal area at home) and could just hear that there was less life and air in the notes. Very, very noticeable. And I thought that previous (unnamed) amp was really good. Now I know. It isn't just hype - Monique's got it.

Kinda hard to troubleshoot your problem like this. Some more info would help describing the noise. Perhaps record and post here what is happening.

FYI I know Jule just left for the NAMM show today so he probably won't be able to respond until after the weekend.

Dunno what to say, as soon as i connect monique output jack to apogee duet i've got noticable noise (nothing connected to the input jack, volume/sens knobs all the way down). I've tried some other tube preamps (cheap) w/o any noise on that mmm settings (all cables etc are the same). I've tried all tubes I've got w/o any results

Do you have the noise running into an amp as well as going from the the direct out?
